Walt Disney has indeed announced during a shareholder’s meeting early this month that the sequel to the very successful animated film “Frozen” has finally been confirmed.
John Lasseter, chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios, made the official announcement about “Frozen 2” and he was accompanied by Walt Disney Co. CEO Robert Iger and Josh Gad, who voiced Olaf in the first film and shall be back again for “Frozen 2.”
He also disclosed that film Directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have a great idea for the sequel as they take fans back to Arendelle.
However, it seems like the fans of the animated film will have to endure a long wait since the latest word from Disney Pictures is that “Frozen 2” is being eyed for a 2018 playdate.
No less than Disney CEO Robert Iger has alluded to the possibility of the long wait for the sequel to be released to theaters when he said that Disney is not demanding speed but the company is demanding excellence.
Back in the saddle
Lee and Buck are currently developing “Frozen 2” with producer Peter Del Vecho for Walt Disney Animation Studios, which is basically the same team behind the Oscar-winning “
Frozen” that won the Best Animated Feature during the 2014 Academy Awards.
Lasseter refused to disclose the initial ideas of film directors for “Frozen 2” but nonetheless assured fans that they would be hearing more about it from the studios. He can only assure them that they will all be taken back to Arendelle for the film’s sequel.
The main cast of characters of the movie, just like in the short animated film “Frozen Fever” which also hit the theaters along with the live-action “Cinderella” movie this month, will be back for the sequel.
Despite the long wait, the production team assured fans that it would all be worth it since “Frozen 2” will really be a very good movie.
Theories about the sequel’s plot
Since Disney confirmed “Frozen 2,” there have been countless speculations about the possible plotline of the sequel.
There were reports that Elsa would be paired with Jack Frost, and that their parents could return to Arendelle in spirit. There were also speculations that the movie will have a new female villain and that Elsa would finally get to control her powers, notes Latino Post.
But the most interesting theory about the sequel’s plotlines is that Anna would also have her own power, just like her sister Elsa. Accordingly, since Elsa’s power is autumn and winter, Anna’s power will be more for spring and summer.
However, all these are mere speculations at this time and unless Disney comes out with an official statement to either confirm or debunk these so-called theories, every information should be taken with a grain of salt.
Frozen is such a wonderful movie. Seen it twice in theaters between late November and late December 2013. I have it on both DVD and Blu-Ray. When I first saw it, I was blown away. I never expect a Frozen 2, but if they gonna produce one, I’m down. So, I’m really lookin’ forward to see the sequel in 2018 or whenever it’s gonna be released.
