Fans Feel that Fox Would Keep Them Hanging Without ‘The Mindy Project’ Season 4

As of this time, despite fairly good ratings and strong clamor from fans, Season 4 of the American romantic comedy TV series “The Mindy Project” is still up in the air.

Fox has yet to confirm whether it is pushing through with a fourth season or cancel the next installment of the TV show altogether.

It has been reported early last month that Fox has already gave other sitcoms in its network the renewal like “New Girl,” “The Last Man on Earth,” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” but it has yet to come up with an official statement regarding the future of one of the most popular shows on TV.

The network has likewise put the sack on shows like “Mulaney,” “Red Band Society,” and “Gracepoint,” which were not doing quite well in the ratings. “The Mindy Project” is doing so much better in the ratings game, particularly among the 18 to 49 age bracket, reports the Indian edition of the International Business Times.

Many of the fans of the show believe that they deserve a Season 4 because Fox would only leave them hanging if the show is cancelled for a fourth season and it ends the way it did in Season 3. They think that there are more plotlines to be explored after Season 3.

Inspired by own mother

Mindy Kaling, who created and is starring in the show as its lead, drew inspiration from the life of her own OB/GYNE mother in developing “The Mindy Project.”

She plays Mindy Lahiri in the TV series, which follows the life of the obstetrician/gynaecologist as she works on balancing her personal and professional life while doing her medical practice amid quirky co-workers in New York City.

Danny Castellano, played by Chris Messina, is Mindy’s best friend and love interest in the show, but whose religious sensibilities and issues with his own mother often provides the tension.

There is also Jeremy Reed, the English doctor with whom Mindy once slept with in Season 1 but now heads the practice, Peter Prentice, a good-looking doctor who was a fraternity jock while he was still studying in Dartmouth, Morgan Tookers, an ex-con registered nurse who was once framed by his career criminal cousin, and Beverly, the promiscuous older office woman who speaks with heavy Southern accent.

Season 1 of “The Mindy Project” began airing on Fox on September 25, 2012 and the 24 episodes lasted until May 14, 2013. Season 2 featured 22 episodes while Season 3 had 21 episodes, the season finale of which just aired on March 24, 2015.

Fans rally behind the show

Fans of the TV series have already taken to social media to rally behind the renewal of “The Mindy Project” Season 4. One fan posted on Twitter that if “New Girl” has been renewed, there is certainly no reason why “The Mindy Project” would be kept in limbo because it deserves a fairly good ending.
