There is little doubt that Iron Man has been one of the more successful Marvel Comics based movies of all time. When the end of the third one appeared on the big screen, many fans thought that was a good place to stop things and come out on top. According to some rumors sites, however, that is not going to be the case. In fact, fans could see a fourth installment to the movie series by the year 2019.
Robert Downey Jr. has been asked many times how many more movies he would be willing to partake in and his answers were never really all that specific. As we reported before, the actor is in fact talking about filming another movie, but there was very little information to go on from that point. This week, according to online sources, the movie is all but confirmed, but might not reach theaters until the year 2019.
Right now there is reportedly more time and money being spent on the sequel to The Avengers, which would not be a bad thing if you are fan of that movie series as well. According to the president of Marvel, any new information or even talk of the next Iron Man would not be happening until 2019, “at least”. With that being said, that could push the movie out even further knowing the production times that are often associated with a blockbuster movie it would be expected to be.
Because Downey Jr. makes his rounds to most of the talk shows around the television channels, there is bound to be more information coming out. This year he admitted on Ellen that a fourth movie was coming, however, he would not give specifics and that included whether or not he would even return to the series. That would leave a huge hole in the cast, but often times another story line is born and that allows the cast to be filled with another star.
Until then, the actor will be completely busy with The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War and of course, the third installment to the Sherlock Holmes movies, which was recently announced. Captain America gets him through 2016 and as of right now there was no release date announced for the Sherlock Holmes 3 movie he is certainly going to play a role in.
Last year, we got to see the Iron Man 3 movie debut in May throughout the United States. The movie went on to bring in more than $1.2 billion worldwide and that was almost double what Iron Man 2 brought in.
