Bethesda raised a lot of eyebrows when they announced that they would be attending this year’s E3 – a first for the company. Immediately, many people jumped to speculation – what could the company be preparing, and is it possibly “The Elder Scrolls 6” or even the next “Fallout”? These were the most common suggestions, and some fans were actually actively arguing between the two, trying to determine which one was more likely.
But now, the excitement has died down a little as Bethesda announced that they are coming out with the next “Doom” in some time. Many fans now assume that the E3 announcement is going to be related to that, although we haven’t heard any information from Bethesda that could confirm or deny that. For what it’s worth, the studio didn’t show any significant details from the new “Doom”, so it’s possible that a more detailed announcement is indeed being prepared for E3.
At the same time, there have been new rumors about the next installment in the “Elder Scrolls” series, claiming that the game is going to be called “Redguard” instead of “Argonia” which was another rumored working title for it. “Redguard” was trademarked by Bethesda four years ago, and there was some speculation back then that it’s related to the franchise, but Bethesda didn’t say anything in this regard.
And in addition, the trademarks for other games in the franchise have been registered on the same year as the games themselves were released, not so early in advance, so that would be a strange move for the company. Still, some fans insist that this is indeed the name for the new game, and that we just have to wait for the official announcement to see the truth.
In any case, attention has now shifted to the new “Doom” and many fans of the old-school shooter franchise are excited to see what Bethesda have prepared this time. It’s been a while since the last “Doom” came out and the shooter scene has evolved a lot since then. At this point, even if they released an old-style corridor shooter with lots of enemies and special effects, it would probably still be highly successful, as this kind of gameplay is coming back in style.
On the other hand, they could also try experimenting more with the gameplay, and come up with something interesting for it, a feature that hasn’t been shown in a shooter so far. There are various possibilities for that, and it mostly comes down to creativity and thinking outside of the box – something which Bethesda have certainly shown to be very capable of.

If it’s just about Doom, Bethesda will piss A LOT of people off! It wouldn’t be a smart move to build up this much excitement by saying nothing and then not even mentioning Fallout or Elder Scrolls…
