The PlayStation 4 mods for the post-apocalyptic role-playing game “Fallout 4” finally arrived a few weeks ago and have worked out pretty well.
However, gamers were quick to point out that based on their experience, the “Fallout 4” PS4 mods do not have the inherent freedom compared to the mods offered on the PC and the Xbox One, reports iDigital Times.
Game developer Bethesda Studios has been pushing that those limitations on the Sony gaming console could eventually be removed but Pete Hines, VP of Marketing, has recently stated that it is not up to them.
On a tweet on December 9, Pete Hines said that they have tried to appeal the removal of the limitations on the “Fallout 4” PS4 mods with Sony but it was rejected. He added that his information is only up to that point so he would appreciate if gamers would no longer ask him about it.
Highlighting the spat
Hines’ Twitter reply has highlighted the long spat between Bethesda Studios and Sony about allowing user-created mods on the PlayStation 4.
Following months of deliberation and discussion, it was decided that “Fallout 4” PS4 mods would be able to launch.
But they were forcibly restricted to only the official assets provided by Bethesda in its official Creation Kit, which meant that all outside contents are totally rejected on Sony’s platform.
It has become an issue since Microsoft does not apply the same restrictions on the “Fallout 4” mods on the Xbox One and also on the PC.
Amid the limitations, it’s worth noting that some content creators have done pretty interesting things on the PS4 with regards to “Fallout 4” mods. Incidentally, the DLC campaign for “Fallout 4” has already ended with PS4 mod support too.
‘Fallout 4’ VR in the works
There are reports coming out saying that Bethesda Studios is now deep in the development of “Fallout 4” VR edition where players get the chance to experience the game with their VR headsets on.
The news has certainly excited the fans of “Fallout 4.” Unfortunately, it has a negative implication on Bethesda’s other upcoming major title, “The Elder Scrolls 6.”
Accordingly, because of the development of “Fallout 4 VR,” it has further pushed back the development of “The Elder Scrolls 6,” reports Neurogadget.
Incidentally, Bethesda has announced last month that the PS4 Pro patch for “Fallout 4” has been delayed anew, explaining that it is still working on the game’s mod support on the latest variant of the PlayStation 4 gaming console.
PS4 Pro fans have been waiting for the patch that would enable them to enjoy “Fallout 4” the same way that gamers on the PS4, the Xbox One, and the PC are enjoying them currently. But apparently, they have to wait a bit longer.
Bethesda has not given an exact date on the release date of the PS4 Pro patch for “Fallout 4.”
In order to sort of makeup for its shortcoming on the PS4 Pro patch, Bethesda announced also last month that it has completed the release of Patch 1.02 late in November for “Skyrim Remaster” for the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and the PC.
Patch 1.02 for “Skyrim Remaster,” which is the short term for “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Remastered,” was initially released for the PlayStation 4 and the PC.
The patch brings general improvements on both performance and stability of “Skyrim Remaster” on the gaming consoles and the PC.
It also came with some fixes that solve issues related to water flow not rendering properly.
Meanwhile, “Fallout 4” is regarded as the most ambitious game ever and also ushers the next generation of open-world gaming.
Critics are actually comparing it to “Titanfall 2,” which is a highly-anticipated game that delivers fast-paced action brimming with inventive twists both on its single-player campaign and on its multiplayer mode.
Late in September, there were reports saying that Bethesda Studios has abandoned the development of the PlayStation 4 mods for “Fallout 4.”

How could these platforms ex0ect to coincide with one another on different platforms. The onky Fallout I know is 4 people in the gaming industry.
