In less than three weeks, the annual and largest video game convention will kick off in Cologne, Germany. European gamers, as well as avid players from all over the world, have set their sights on the event to learn about the newest and upcoming offerings on gaming platforms this year and next year. And what better way for game developer Bethesda Softworks to showcase its newest game from the very successful “Fallout” franchise than during the four-day convention happening on August 5 to 9, 2015.
According to Digital Times, “Fallout 4” will be present at this year’s Gamescom along with upcoming highly-anticipated video games such as “Final Fantasy 15,” “Hitman,” “Just Cause 3,” “Deus X: Mankind Divided,” “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain,” among many others. The fifth franchise of the role-playing game was announced in June with a release date on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and the PC slated on November 10. Fans of the game have been waiting for the release of “Fallout 4” for years, since it was way back in 2010 when its predecessor, “Fallout: New Vegas” came out to gaming platforms.
For enthusiasts who cannot wait until November, pre-ordering digital copies of “Fallout 4” for Xbox One was made available already. For those who can spare $59.99, they can have themselves a digital copy of “Fallout 4” as well as a digital download of “Fallout 3.” Pre-order sales are doing great so far and Bethesda states that they might run out of digital copies sooner than they expected. Digital pre-orders for the PlayStation 4 version of the game have not been announced so far.
Bethesda has been doing a great job in teasing fans about what to expect with their hottest offering. Digital Times adds that loyal players of the game can expect an improved VATS system, better combats, and new dialogue between new characters. Gamerant reports that the latest addition to the franchise may be Bethesda’s biggest release to date, overshadowing other releases such as that of “Skyrim” and the spin-offs of ‘The Elder Scrolls” video games.
Telegraph states that VATS’ return on “Fallout 4” will give players a better gaming experience. VATS would not be putting time on a full stop, unlike in previous “Fallout” games. Instead, it will allow time to slowly crawl, which means the targets the player will be aiming will be moving too. The action-packed video game will still hand players percentage chances of hitting their enemies, but this time, the percentage will be changing as enemies continue to move. This will be a great aid for players especially in close encounters with a target coming from a corner.
Rumors of development for “Fallout 4” has been persistent for quite some time, but production of the game was only officially confirmed right before this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2015 held last month. Reports say that a lot of efforts was put into the game with voice actors taking two years to finish recording over 13,000 dialogues. Just before the annual game expo, Bethesda released a trailer, serving as the game’s prologue, satiating the fans’ longing and excitement for the franchise.
As per Geek Snack, the latest installment to the action role-playing game will have a gameplay just like “Fallout 3,” but it will be more appealing and feature a dynamic approach compared to the previous version. A camera that can switch anytime from first person or omniscient point of view with the goal to hunt and kill enemies such as mole rats, death claws, untamed ghouls, raiders, and super mutants is still the main gameplay. Bethesda has also confirmed that the immortal Dogmeat will make a grand reappearance in the latest installment.
The game will cover the Boston, Massachusetts region as well as some parts of New England, better known as Commonwealth. It will still feature the city’s major landmarks such as the USS Constitution, the Boston State House, Scollay Square, and the Statue of Paul Revere. It will also include Boston’s mountains and outlands as well as the city’s skyscrapers.
