Fallout 4 DLC: What Directions Should the Game Be Expanded in?

“Fallout 4” has been out for a couple of months now, and fans are still very excited about the game, discussing it actively on the Internet and speculating about its future. The contents of the main game are so expansive that players are still discovering interesting things all over its world, but of course this hasn’t stopped some from speculating about what the first round of DLC could bring to the table. As we know from Bethesda’s past, they can realistically do quite a lot to expand the game with new content.

There have been rumors that the first DLC could feature underwater content, possibly focusing on it very strongly. There are some potential hints in this direction around the world of “Fallout 4”, and it would actually make quite a lot of sense to bring the gameplay underwater as this is something that Bethesda have never really focused on in the franchise so far.

In fact, many players seem convinced that this is the answer and that we are going to see some serious underwater action in the first DLC for “Fallout 4”. On the other hand, whether or not this will be all the content in the DLC pack is hard to say – it might be just one piece of the puzzle.

But in the past, Bethesda have been quite thematic with their DLC releases, and they tend to focus on one particular element in each round of DLC, pushing it to the limit and exploring all that it has to offer. With that in mind, if Bethesda really are planning an underwater DLC, that could very well be the main focus of the new content.

The new levels should also explore new gameplay concepts, many players agree. The gameplay of “Fallout 4” was already very diverse and detailed compared to the previous games in the series, but it could use some expansion in certain directions, according to many. Most notably, the dialog system and the overall narrative behind the quests of the game.

This has been a common complaint about the title, actually, and many players seem to agree that the new system was a step backwards and made the game feel very restricted and streamlined. With the removal of the karma system and any real choices in conversations, the game now feels more like an interactive movie rather than a true roleplaying experience, and this has been frustrating for many. There are some who claim that the new system was actually a step forward and that Bethesda made a smart move with it, but those voices seem to be in the minority for now.

If the new DLC manages to repair the situation with the game’s dialog system, this should be a huge step forward in regaining the trust of Bethesda’s fans in the company. After all, the immersiveness of “Fallout” has always been the main attracting factor for the franchise, and anything that takes away from that is a bad idea for the developers.

Fallout 4

But just because “Fallout 4” was missing certain components doesn’t necessarily mean that the game was bad overall. Quite on the contrary, it came out to very strong responses and many players were more than happy to overlook its issues in light of everything good that it did for the series. The game has plenty of qualities that make it one of the best releases that we’ve seen recently, and nothing can change that.
