‘Fallout 4’ Developer Denies Exclusivity Deal with Microsoft as the Reason why Game’s PS4 Mods was Cancelled

Bethesda Studios has officially denied rumors and speculations alluding that its alleged exclusivity deal with Microsoft is the main reason why the long-reported “Fallout 4” PlayStation 4 mods was cancelled.

Pete Hines, Vice President for Marketing of Bethesda Studios, said that the cancellation of the “Fallout 4” PS4 mods does not have anything to do with any exclusivity deal with Microsoft which the game developer does not have.

Hines said that Bethesda has not signed any exclusive contract with Microsoft, adding that they have always wanted to bring the mods to all gaming platforms as early as June.

For some technical reason, Bethesda encountered some difficulty in bringing out the “Fallout 4” PS4 mods that it finally decided just recently to abandon its plan altogether.

Disappointing many gamers

The absence of PS4 mods in “Fallout 4” is the third time that Bethesda Studios has done so in its high-profile video game.

It could be recalled that the game developer also did not release the PS4 mods for “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” which led to major disappointments to many gamers and the gaming community in general, reports the iTech Post.

The game developer previously did it to “Farming Simulator 17” despite confirming it beforehand.

Hines explained that the “Fallout 4” mods are quite different with “Farming Simulator 17” mods. He said that the term mods mean a lot of things, which is why the development of mods for “Farming Simulator 17” is completely unique from the development of “Fallout 4” mods.

The Bethesda official also said that the “Fallout 4” PS4 mods is not officially canceled but only placed on the backburner for the time being. He explained that in order for the “Fallout 4” PS4 mods to materialize, Bethesda needs to work hand-in-hand with Sony to get the job done.

A massive “Fallout 4” mod

Speaking of mods, there is a massive “Fallout 4” mod that connects all of the game’s subway stations with a network of tunnels and gives the players a new way to travel the wasteland, cites the PC Gamer.

The mod appears to provide gamers with an alternate route through “Fallout 4” wasteland by giving them a subterranean travel option.

But gamers should be prepared when they enter the tunnels because they are not empty and populated by ghouls, raiders, and mutants, which some describe as super.

In order to pass through, the gamers will have to deal with them as necessary before they can travel safely to their next destination. The creatures also do not repopulate so once the tunnels are cleared of it, they are cleared of any creature outright.

Those who love to play the “Fallout 4” survival mode, would also notice that there are some beds down in the tunnel.

It is one of those very few times when a game feature is playable on the PC and the Xbox One but not on the PlayStation 4.

That seems to be the case with the mods feature of the post-apocalyptic role-playing game “Fallout 4” developed by Bethesda Studios.

PlayStation 4 gamers have been waiting for the mods feature of “Fallout 4” for more than three months already and they now want answers to their questions, particularly on why the game’s expansion is now being enjoyed by gamers on the Xbox One and the PC, but they cannot.

fallout 4

It has been reported in the past that players using the PS4 have been anticipating for the expansion on “Fallout 4” for more than three months already.

Reports have it that Bethesda Studios is encountering some rough sailing in making the expansion playable on the PlayStation 4. The game developer assured fans and gamers that they are still working on it and it will be rolled out to the PS4 for the benefit of its players once the mods run okay.

There are reportedly several problems in the porting process including Sony’s audio file compatibility from which the company uses a different audio format compared to the one preferred by Bethesda.
