F1 2015 Coming to All Platforms on June 12, Confirmed by Codemasters!

Codemasters are a company with a pretty extensive history in the gaming industry, and they’re veterans in the racing simulation genre specifically. Of their many franchises, the “F1” series based on the real-life Formula One races, is probably one of their most popular and successful ones. It’s been known for a while that the company was preparing a new installment into the franchise for this year, but until now, we had no idea about the game’s release date.

Now, Codemasters have confirmed that the new title is coming June 12, just in time for the summer season. It reportedly brings various changes and improvements to the gameplay formula (no pun intended), and further refines the experience to make it a truly realistic, yet fun Formula One simulator. The company is known for their strict approach to realism and their unique handling of certain gameplay features, and we have full trust in them to do something amazing with “F1 2015”.

The new title is based on the Ego Game Technology Engine, an in-house engine built by Codemasters themselves, which itself was based on a previous engine called Neon. Ego was significantly improved over its predecessor however, and it’s currently one of the cutting edge engines in the industry, as far as racing games are concerned.

Codemasters stated that they have significantly reworked certain parts of the game, such as the tire physics, and they have also improved numerous aspects of the gameplay like the engine and transmission handling, the way aerodynamics work, fuel tank realism and more. The previous games were already quite successful in creating an authentic feeling for sitting behind the wheel of an actual Formula One car, and it looks like this title will push the trend even further.

The game will be released simultaneously for all supported platforms, namely Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. On a curious note, the game is fully integrated with the voice control systems of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, allowing players to request repairs, weather updates, status checks and more through the microphone of the console. A feature which undoubtedly saves a lot of time and allows players to focus on the actual driving action more effectively.

Players can also expect to see some popular brands and names in the list of licensed cars and drivers for the new game, but Codemasters haven’t revealed the full list yet. Apparently, the names are coming straight from the 2014 Formula One World Championship, so fans of the sport should be able to easily recognize those they’re racing against, as well as the names of cars, equipment and other parts of the gameplay.
