Even in Lip-Syncing, Mariah Carey‘s Performance is Off-Target!

Mariah Carey seems to be really affected by her divorce with former husband Nick Cannon as she has been a mess as a performer over the past couple of months that even in lip-syncing, she is still way off target.

Mariah was at her bad element again last January 30 during her performance at the Jamaica Blues Festival Night.

It would have been more understandable and bearable if she was off-key in singing live and her voice suddenly departed her which was what happened to her during the start of her Elusive Chanteuse tour in Japan in October last year, but in her latest gig, she was just lip-syncing her best hits, but she was still way behind the song.

It was really unforgiveable for a pop diva of her stature. What’s worse is that it was caught on video and now it is going around YouTube like wild fire.

A high-octane performer no more

It is so unlike Mariah Carey to be off-target with her music as she has been known as one of the better high-octane performers of all time.

The cringe-worthy part of her performance during the Jamaica Blues Festival Night is that she had trouble just lip-syncing her biggest hits like “Fantasy” and “Always Be My Baby,” much to the disappointment of her fans, especially those who have since the video on YouTube, according to Entertainment Tonight.

The 44-year-old was clearly missing the cue from the audio and it was very clear that she was not singing live. A good singer should never miss a beat in lip-syncing because the idea is to make it appear that she is singing live. But from her performance, it was obvious right from the start that it wasn’t live because Mariah was floundering in lip-syncing terribly.

It’s the second incident in three months where Mariah’s singing performance was put under the microscope.

During the kick-off of her Elusive Chanteuse tour in Japan, her trademark powerhouse voice failed her and it was also caught on video, that had some critics already writing the diva as a has-been or a washed up singer.

Bad for Vegas

Mariah has recently signed a contract to regularly perform at the Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada beginning in May. But her latest off-key performances do not bode well for her residency with the pricey hotel and its elegant and sophisticated clientele.

Mariah confirmed the news of her residency during her guest appearance with The Ellen DeGeneres Show where she assured her fans that she will be rendering some her greatest hits during her Vegas performance including “Visions of Love,” “Emotions,” and “One Sweet Day.”

She said that her contract with Caesar’s Palace is special to her and she hopes that fans will enjoy her performances because it was inspired by her No. 1 albums, which now totals 18.
