For a start-up company like independent American car manufacturer Elio Motors, any promotions or promotional mileage would do good for its ground-breaking three-wheel vehicle which it calls as the autocycle.
The company has recently forged an alliance with Onion, Inc. a satirical media company, for a political digital media campaign leading up to the US presidential elections slated in November, reports the Media Post.
The hottest issue that is taking the mindset of almost all Americans these days is the election and riding on the issue would really help boost the awareness on the autocyle.
In a recent interview, Paul Elio, founder and CEO of Elio Motors, said that the company would not be endorsing any candidate or political party during the campaign but will just be representing the color purple. He said that it shall signify the combination of both the Democrats and Republican parties that everyone can rally behind.
Elio disclosed that the marketing campaign was developed by Onion Labs and it includes custom social infographics, an election-inspired video commercial, and targeted media surrounding the political content of the satirical newspaper, “The Onion.”
The sales pitch
The general sales pitch of the political digital media campaign is that Democrats and the Republicans may disagree on many issues but they are sure to agree on the draw of a low-cost, fuel-efficient, and environment-friendly car like the autocycle.
Elio Motor’s bipartisan message is very clear that whether one is a Republican or a Democrat from a Red State or a Blue State, everyone can rally behind Elio Motors and its autocycle because it will create American jobs, reduce the country’s dependence on foreign oil and help the environment, details PR Newswire.
Rick Hamann, Chief Creative Officer of Onion, Inc., added that political parties can’t seem to agree on anything in the upcoming election but they both want to drive the Elio, which happens to be the official name of the autocycle.
Hamann explained that they agreed to work with Elio Motors to find a way to insert humor into party disagreement.
Engine manufacturer for the autocycle
Elio Motors is determined to finally put into production its three-wheel vehicle. Last month, Elio Motors has also forged a partnership with Canadian company Linamar Corporation to produce the engines of its groundbreaking three-wheel vehicle, which is being positioned by Elio Motors founder and chief executive officer as a high mileage and low-cost eco-trike for years.
Despite reportedly incurring $54 million in debts, Elio Motors is determined to alter the course of US transportation when its revolutionary and groundbreaking three-wheel vehicle finally rolls out in the fourth quarter of this year.
It is very clear in the company’s mission statement that Elio Motors want to provide American motorists with a fun-to-drive, super economical personal transportation alternative that is affordable, safe, and environmentally-friendly.
With its 84 miles per gallon fuel efficiency, it will be an ultra high mileage two-seater that shall come with a very affordable base price of only $6,800.
Since opening reservations for the three-wheeler sometime last year, Elio Motors has received almost 54,000 to this date and it seems that the figure would increase further as the official unveiling of the Elio draws near.
The autocycle is a brainchild of Paul Elio, an automotive enthusiast himself, who sized up the prevailing status quo of personal transportation several years ago.
Elio saw the rising costs of the vehicles that Americans drive and also noted the fuel prices spike to record-highs almost daily. He also observed that Americans were struggling with the economy that was taking too much and giving back too little.
So he decided right there and then that the world, particularly the Americans, was ready for something new. The result of his forward thinking is the three-wheel masterpiece, which is a reflection of automotive brilliance that bears his name.
