Independent car manufacturer Elio Motors is positioning its groundbreaking three-wheel vehicle as a car for everyone. Elio describes its car innovation as the ultra-high mileage, sleek two-seater that comes with an affordable base price.
The car’s major selling points are its superb 84 miles per gallon fuel efficiency rating and its $6,800 base price when it officially rolls out to the motoring retail markets by next year. There is no further elaboration needed on how innovative and groundbreaking the vehicle is.
It’s ideal for a 50-year-old working professional needing reliable transportation to get to and from work as much as it suits a 17-year-old female high school student looking for a viable alternative to her gas guzzler vehicle while keeping the spunky aura that befits her age, notes the latest post on the Elio Motors website focusing on the next-generation drivers.
Asked what she likes about Elio’s upcoming three-wheeler, the female high school student says that she can’t wait to get her hands on one for college because it’s perfect for going away on a long journey while not costing so much.
She went on to say that she and her father have actually done the math on the vehicle and they both agreed that she can afford it when she gets a job. That’s aside from the fact that the cost of fuel almost means nothing to her by then.
While the female high school lady is also aware of the economics of supporting American-made cars including its contribution to jobs creation and reducing the national deficit, she says that the car appeals to her basically because it’s safe and it also provides her options for what she prefers in her own vehicle.
She was actually just referring to a good stereo with an auxiliary jack for her smartphone or tablet and Bluetooth too. That was all she needed as far as infotainment is concerned, which are just a few of the options that will be provided by Elio Motors when the car finally rolls out to the markets next year.
The next big thing
Elio Motors is promising the next big thing in transportation with its groundbreaking three-wheel vehicle which is set to go into mass production next year at its manufacturing facility located at Caddo Parish in Louisiana, using a portion of the former GM Shreveport Operations plant.
Indicative also of how popular its three-wheeler has become based primarily on the prototypes that the independent car manufacturer displayed in recent auto shows, the vehicle has actually obtained 43,829 reservations to date and still counting.
The company is still accepting reservation at its website with the assurance to early bird buyers that they will get their unit within the first year of production, ahead of the rest.
Elio Motors has also stated that the right people have already been hired to design and build the car, which it is calling as the P5 since it is already the fifth generation prototype.
More options in the works
For a small and very affordably-priced vehicle, most consumers would logically expect that the three-wheeler would have limited tech features.
But Elio has other bigger plans for its breakthrough vehicle. It has partnered with Infinite Skyz to offer an in-car software application that shall serve as a digital instrument panel, navigation, diagnostic center, and an app hub when the car comes out of the assembly, details Inside Car News.
And that’s not all; there will be more options that will be provided including optional cameras which could either serve as a dash cam, a security camera, or a rearview camera. It shall also have a remote-start feature as well as a climate-control interface.
Elio Motors is also working on an instrument panel, which would be an improvement from the old Geo Metro gauge cluster that was shown with the P4 model previously. Company CEO Paul Elio personally designed the cluster which features rotating backlit dials for the speedometer and the tach.
Paul Elio said that the company’s strategic initiatives really paid off as they really buckled down to work with the end in view of meeting the production targets for the car.
