As Bethesda’s fans are currently focused on “Fallout 4” and the upcoming first round of DLC for it, it sounds like there might be something else brewing behind the doors of the studio. According to rumors, Bethesda are currently also actively working on an announcement for the “Elder Scrolls” franchise, and they are going to make it shortly after they’ve released the first DLC for their post-apocalyptic RPG.
We don’t know any exact details about the next “Elder Scrolls” game yet, and there have been enough rumors so far that the game could easily work in many different ways, but the important thing to remember is that if it does get shown soon, then its actual release could follow not long after that as well. Because, on one hand, it must mean that Bethesda are already far ahead into the game’s development, at least enough to show it to the public, and on the other, the studio is generally known for showing their previews when they are getting close to the actual release of a game.
But for the time being, the focus of the development teams is reportedly on “Fallout 4” and many of the studio’s creative minds are engaged in that game, trying to perfect the first DLC for it before it hits the market. We still don’t know what exactly it will include or what its focus will be, but there is a lot of speculation among the game’s fans that we are going to see a DLC focused on underwater content.
Some have even been drawing analogies between “Fallout 4” and “Bioshock”, and according to them, we could see a world similar to Rapture from the latter title. Of course, Bethesda have their own style and they are not just going to copy another game so directly, but there is nothing wrong with taking some inspiration from another title especially if they can make it work well with the current world of “Fallout 4”.
As for “The Elder Scrolls 6”, some of the more major rumors about that game claim that it could be a direct successor to “Skyrim”, and there are even reports referring to it as “Skyrim 2”. It wouldn’t be entirely in Bethesda’s style to split up the franchise like that, but we don’t know what they could be planning for it in the long run, and it’s possible that they might have some more interesting ideas in mind, such as branching it out in several different directions.
It’s been a while since we last saw or heard anything about that series, so there is a lot of room on the market right now for even more than one new release. Of course, Bethesda would have to be very careful if that’s their plan indeed, as it would mean splitting up their development efforts in possibly dangerous ways, but they’ve rarely disappointed their fans in the past, even with more drastic changes to their formulas.
For now, fans of “The Elder Scrolls” are patiently waiting for the first round of DLC for “Fallout 4” to hit the market, as they see it as an indicator for the release of the next game in their own favorite franchise. Of course, this is entirely based on speculation right now and it’s possible that nothing will actually happen after “Fallout 4” gets its DLC, but many people are still hopeful and scouring the Internet for any new rumors about the fantasy RPG at the moment.
