Duck Dynasty: The Politically Outrageous Lot

Duck Dynasty is a reality television show that is based on a family from Louisiana who got to be known due to their family business, Duck Commander. The Robertson family is into making a duck call for duck hunters. The show made its debut on the television in March 2012, and the Outdoor Channel acquired the re-run rights for the show Duck Dynasty in 2016.

The show turned out to be a popular show that broke several records A&E becoming the most watched non-fiction TV series in the history of television. The show is scheduled to end on the 12th of April next year due to a fall in the ratings.

After five years of having aired, the family decided to end the chapters of the show. This news was confirmed by the video uploaded on their Facebook page by Jase Robertson. Apart from this news, Korie Robertson also stated that this will be the best season till now.

This announcement was made public along with the premiere of the eleventh season. It is planned to run until January before it takes a break to come back for the remaining episodes. The channel is expected to run the special holiday episodes after getting through with the eleventh season.

The reason for the ratings taking a hit is still directed towards Phil Robertson making an anti-gay comment during an interview in 2013. The network expressed their disappointment about his views which weren’t reflected in the reality show before. Due to this he also faced a suspension which was reinstated in nine days. The decision was unanimous between the cast and the network.

The family business of the Robertsons expanded its reach when half of the company was sold to the son Willie, and that led to one of the most viewed semi-scripted reality TV show. Duck Dynasty appealed to the religious and cynical viewers who just wanted something to go with their faith and ideologies.

This family of Christian conservatives appealed to the local color in a comic way. The aspect of reality added an edge to the show; however, it was needless to say that it was a package that was pre-determined for the viewers.

This, however, acted as a negative for the viewers of A&E. This is because despite being a viewership gathering show with questionable points of view, it made the liberal viewers alienate themselves from the show and the network too.

The interview came about as an opportunity for Phil to talk his mind out. It came out to be an outlet for the things that the show edited. He only wanted to make sure that his nation gets to hear his thoughts and expressions about topics like homosexuality and color politics.

Following that, when Willie came forward to apologize in front of the media, it became clear as to what views the entire family shared and not Phil alone. Both Willie and his wife Korie stood by the fact that Bible is supposed to be read as it is and that men and women are meant to be together. Any other union, according to them, is a sin. Phil also stood by his views.

The Duck Dynasty member has also expressed his joy behind Trump being elected as the President during a promotional event of his book, The American Fisherman. He said that it is a fact that most of the counties are the ones that watch the show and nothing apart from that. He felt elated to know that many people share the faith that he does.

His arrogance was raised by the fact that Trump and he are very much alike. He said that Trump talks about the things that most people think but are not gutsy enough to express. He also laid the fact that God-fearing people kept his ratings up.
