There is also the social aspect of the game, which was supposed to be its main selling point but fell a bit short. It was done well, there’s no denying that – but it could use a lot of improvement in various regards.
Last but not least, free roaming has been getting more and more popular in racing games, even though it’s not the kind of feature people tend to associate with this genre first and foremost. It’s true that the game could handle that aspect a lot better than it did, especially if it wants to be a “Forza killer”, as “Forza Horizon 2” was one of the best releases in this regard.
The social aspect could actually be combined with the idea of free roaming to create a truly amazing experience for fans too, but this is just a random idea that the developers have likely considered themselves.
In the end, “Driveclub” had a lot of potential, but it has to be realized much better if it is to be crowned king of the racing genre, as its developers seem to be striving for. Let’s hope that the game will find its way soon enough and we’re going to see something amazing from it.
Driveclub is severely underrated! Evolution Studios have done a stellar job supporting the game post release. Adding new cars every month along with new tour events has given the title tremendous value. The core racing is really fun which requires player skill in order to win consistently. Also the sense of speed is unmatched by any game in the genre, period. I just purchased the season pass and couldn’t be happier with my decision. So much bang for your buck. Clueless gamers did not sway me. Tried it and now I’m hooked. Best next-generation racer out there hands down.
Gamers need to forget about the Driveclub release and try it now, it’s come on leaps and bounds and Evolution have indeed done an amazing job when it comes to support and keeping the fans up to date on social media.
I personally don’t think they need to do anything to revive interest, multiplayer is clearly bustling with online players and you only have to look at the amount of results on the leaderboard to see that this game is going strong.
Please stop hating on this game. This is the best racer ever made and it is in my opinion the only game with next gen graphics. this racer is perfect and it is the new benchmark. Please evolution studios please please please bring this to PC with DirectX 12.
I think Driveclub is very underrated. The release version is nowhere near the current state. There are several new cars and tours. The game looks beautiful and plays very smoothly. Online racing is also great!
Now I do agree there is room for improvement. Bringing it to 60FPS would be a great start.
Also, having more customization options would give the players more sense of uniqueness.
The only thing I find poorly done is the online multiplayer menus. It should be like the general game menu where it’s fluid and simple.
