The 27th episode of the popular Japanese anime TV series “Dragon Ball Super” on Fuji TV, that aired on January 17, has officially closed the book on the ‘Resurrection F’ saga as Goku finally overcomes the powerful Frieza.
On its subsequent 28th episode that aired on January 24, the TV series moves to a new storyline which is called the ‘Champa’ saga.
The Champa saga opened up a new storyline that focuses on Goku teaming up with the previously overpowered Beerus and his sidekick Whis in an inter-universe fighting tournament, notes the Christian Post.
Typical with the TV series, the new chapter is expected to introduce a slew of new characters who fans will surely root for or go against.
Episode 28 is officially titled “Champa! The God of Destruction of the Sixth Universe,” which basically introduces who Goku and company will be going up against in the latest chapter of “Dragon Ball Super.”
Those who have been following the TV series from the onset know that Beerus is regarded as the God of Destruction of the Seventh Universe. However, there are also other universes out there that have their respective Gods of Destruction. Apparently, Champa holds the reputation on the Sixth Universe.
Beerus himself disclosed to Goku during the early episodes of “Dragon Ball Super” that there are other universes and there are also other God of Destruction like himself.
Like Whis to Beerus, Champa has an assistant called Vados, who is actually the more powerful sister of Whis.
Assembling his team
During episode 28, it was shown that Beerus was beginning to assemble his own team consisting of Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, Buu, and Monaka. It is still not clear why Beerus did not include in his team Gohan.
Champa’s team included the likes of Hitto, Kyabe, Frost, Botamo, Magnetta, and Zuno. One of those new characters actually looked very much like Frieza while the other one resembles that of a Saiyan warrior.
The inter-universe fighting tournament was on its preliminaries on episode 28 and it is expected that the fighting would heat up in the subsequent episodes until it will be the turn of Beerus to go up against Champa, and see two Gods of Destruction going up against each other.
Interestingly, Beerus may opt out of the contest as he is already weakened and that is where he might put Gohan or Goku to face off against Champa. Any Saiyan warrior would not back down on any fight regardless of whether they are fighting a god or not.
An interesting sidelight
There is another interesting sidelight to the battle between Champa and Beerus. The two are actually brothers as much as they are rivals, cites the Christian Post in another report.
The prize for the inter-universe tournament is that Champa will get to swap the earth for Universe 6 to Universe 7 if he and his team win. However, if Goku and the team of Beerus win, Beerus will have the Super Dragon Balls.
Just like in the ‘Resurrection F’ saga, Goku and Vegeta are shown in episode 28 training first with Whis before the tournament starts.
The episode also featured an early battle between the brothers as Beerus and Champa went at each other early on although it is not yet an official part of the tournament. But what it showed to fans and viewers is that the brothers have already been in a long-standing sibling rivalry so there is no love lost between the two of them at all.
Each one would like to defeat and maim the other if given the opportunity.
Beerus would most likely depend on Goku who was just fresh from defeating Frieza during the episode 26 of “Dragon Ball Super.”
