Another emotionally-filled scene is that which features the Dowager Countess Violet, played by Maggie Smith, explaining to Isobel, played by Penelope Wilton, that New Year’s Eve celebration always makes her smile because they always drink to the future, whatever it may bring.
While the Christmas special trailer of ITV is heart-rending, the promo trailer of PBS in the US is a bit on the lighter side as it decided to put together a montage of some of the funniest moments in the show’s six-year history.
The trailer showed Molesley’s hair treatment to Lady Violet’s encounter with a swivel chair in Matthew’s office. Molesley was played by Kevin Doyle while Matthew was played by Dan Stevens.
It also features Lady Mary, played by Michelle Dockery, going for a dive in the pigpen of the great soup battle between Spratt, played by Jeremy Swift, and Denker, played by Sue Johnston.
And as expected, the funniest in the video clip is that of Mr. Carson practicing the way he wants to answer the new telephone at the estate. Running at second is definitely the scene involving Molesley getting drunk and dancing at a jig at Shrimpie’s Christmas festivities. Shrimpie is being played in the TV series by Peter Egan.
