We all know how the fifth season of the popular Downton Abbey ended on PBS. The problem with the season coming to an end is that most of the time there are questions left unanswered and that is not a good time for the loyal fans of the show. Reading through some of the reports about Downton Abbey season 6 this week, it is clear that the time is coming when those questions are going to be answered.
Downton Abbey is a period drama that showed up on television for the first time back in 2010 in the United Kingdom. When it was first aired in the United States, it was in January 2011 and the show was located on the PBS channel. The newest and final season was announced back in March of this year and has is through the fourth episode at this time. The fourth episode of the sixth season revealed a face that many fans of another show would recognize right away.
That other show is Game of Thrones and the face belongs to Rose Leslie, who is set to play Gwen Dawson on Downton Abbey. She will be making her way through the main entrance, rather than the servants entrance like some sources had expected. The reason that this spoiler has become a surprise to fans is because Leslie even noted that her character story line was completed on the show. It was noted that Dawson was “in a happy place” being married, out of domestic service and living life like anyone else would have wanted to.
For those that do not remember, Dawson left during Downton Abbey season 1 to get a job as a secretary with the help of Sybil. Through the first few episodes of Downton Abbey season 6, it is clear which characters are working on their future and which ones are not. Embracing change is one thing that shows a few dealing with it, while others are not quite sure how to handle it. Other characters are on the show to preserve a legacy and that is just how it will end.
Other sources are focusing on Daisy, which is played by Sophie McShera. She is front and center when it comes to all of the changes that have been put forth in this new season. She has found her voice and continues to make sure that she is heard. Daisy is standing up for what she believes in and that is all that matters to her right now. In that period, getting your voice heard can be something that lands you in hot water, as it does for Daisy and Cora. This can bring some changes to the show, but unless things are cut and dry, those changes might not occur.
