Downton Abbey Season 6 Is Over In The UK And Producers Are Happy With Results!

Of course, if you are a fan of Downton Abbey, then you know there is at least one more episode of your favorite show to come right around Christmas.  Besides that episode, the series has come to an end and the fans are still trying to figure out if they are happy with it or not. There is always a bad taste in your mouth when your favorite show is over and these fans are going through it right now. The show was a hit with viewers and has great ratings because of it.

If you watched the entire series of Breaking Bad, then you know what it is like to see a great show that you put so much time into come to an end. Besides the fans still trying to get a grip about the end, the producers were very happy with the results of the finale. Most of the time, the season and series finales are the highest rated shows during the time they are on television. That is the case for Downton Abbey as well.

The end of last season brought in more than 8 million viewers, with season four ending with almost 10 million viewers. As you can see, the viewers dropped just a little from season four through season five, but the finale of the series brought in more than 8.8 million viewers. The beginning of season six brought in more than 7.5 million viewers and the trend continued throughout the remaining episodes. This leaves the producers, directors, creators and of course the actors with a great feeling.

The show was a hit from the start and even though good shows seem to be cut short with only five of six seasons, they do end with a bang and plenty of happy followers. The show started back in late 2010 in the United Kingdom with PBS picking the show up for those in the United States in early 2011. Since then, the show has gained a major following the PBS was a huge winner with the pick up of the latest one hour dramatic series.

The sixth season was confirmed around the middle of March of this year and that started shortly after the summer months had gone by. Besides having great ratings, the show was also mentioned in the Guinness World Records being the most critically acclaimed English language television series in 2011. That popularity with the critics carried over to the fans that sat together each Sunday night after football and watched and then took to the internet each Monday to talk about their favorite scenes, character twists and everything else that came along with Downton Abbey. The final episode will be the annual Christmas special, which will air on December 25th, 2015.
