Does the 2016 Chevy Volt Offer 43 MPG at a Lower Price? Let’s See

Meanwhile, GM seem to be reusing some of their Chevy Volt components in creative ways – a recent news release shed some light into a data center owned by the company, which is powered by batteries from the Volt.

According to the company, five batteries from the first-generation Volt are working alongside a 74-kilowatt solar array, as well as two 2-kilowatt wind turbines, providing energy to the main building that houses a data center for the company.

In addition, these batteries are responsible for the backup power of the facility, able to keep it running for up to four hours in case its power goes down, according to GM. This has allowed them to register a net-zero energy use on an annual basis, and they’re even sending extra power back into the grid. The company seems quite determined to build a solid public image as a company that’s all about power efficiency and a good use of batteries, and they have been doing a good job at that so far.
