Doctor Who Will Be around for at Least another Half a Decade!

“Doctor Who” is a name that’s been on television for many decades now, and it’s one of the best-known shows in science fiction. The original series actually stayed on the screen for 26 seasons spanning over two decades and a half, and now its new incarnation is showing great promising signs that it’s also going to be around for quite a while.

The show is one of the most popular productions on TV right now, with countless fans that are always waiting for a new episode, and actively discussing the show’s developments on the Internet. Indeed, “Doctor Who” is probably one of the TV shows with the largest fan bases ever, and it’s certainly earned this huge interest through its high production values and great writing.

The new version of “Doctor Who” has apparently been so successful that the producers don’t have plans to end it anytime soon, and neither does the network running the show. According to reports, if all goes well, we can expect to see “Doctor Who” on the screen for at least five more years, as the show isn’t going anywhere until 2020 in the earliest.

Steven Moffat, executive producer for “Doctor Who”, revealed that the show has actually been doing surprisingly well – its current ratings haven’t gone down in the slightest compared to a decade ago, and it’s clear that fans have a huge interest in the production still. With most shows, ratings tend to die down a few years in unless the producers find a way to keep things fresh.

“Doctor Who” basically has that built into the premise of the show, as it changes its main character regularly. There’s always a lot of discussion when this happens, and it’s not rare that fans are initially skeptical towards the new Doctor, only to warm up to him over the first couple of episodes. That’s why the first episode of each new season is usually so strong as well, as the writers need to do a good job at solidifying the new character’s position.

Hopefully, they won’t lose their brilliant touch with the production and its fan base, as “Doctor Who” definitely does have the potential to stick around for a very long time, and it doesn’t even have to change much about its structure in order to remain relevant. As long as the producers have a solid plan lined up for the next few years and stick to it – and on the other hand aren’t afraid to experiment a little – we should see great things from “Doctor Who” over its next few seasons. Sadly, we have no idea what’s planned for the Doctor for those years however.
