A little less than one year ago, the BBC Worldwide Annual Review announced that it would be investing in a tenth series of Doctor Who. The Twelfth Doctor is played by Peter Capaldi and this will be the third series with him as the main character. The “doctor” in the show is basically a time traveler that gets to move around space and time in his TARDIS, which looks like a police telephone booth from the outside. The latest season will air in 2017.
According to reports, Peter Capaldi is quite excited to meet a new cast member. A brand new companion was rumored for the Doctor Who season 10, which starts filming in May of this year. Many online sources have already reported that the new companion was confirmed, however the exact replacement for Clara’s character has not been announced just yet. Sources that are familiar with the show have confirmed the replacement, but also refuse to mention who it is.
Peter Capaldi has given a recent interview in which he states that he is very excited for the new replacement and mentioned that have “been doing a bit of work together already.” Who the addition to the show could be is anyone’s guess right now, but if Peter Capaldi is happy with the choice, Doctor Who season 10 should be well worth watching. Capaldi also went on to say that the new actor puts a different take on things, which is peaking all sort of interest online.
The reason that Capaldi feels that there will be a different take on things is that Clara had previous knowledge of the doctor and that could reveal that this new companion might be in for a huge surprise along the way. Putting someone in the mix that has little experience with how the doctor moves around and helps people could really change the dynamic of the show. In the past, there have only been three companions played by Karen Gillan, Billie Piper and most recently, Jenna Coleman. Since Coleman had announced her departure, there is plenty of speculation as to who is next in line.
According to one online source, it has been rumored that Maisie Williams might be a good fit since she was a guest star in the ninth season. The Game of Throne actress was asked, of course, and she said that she would not be returning to the show. With that being said, the vacancy is wide open and there are too many that fit the role and that is causing a certain level of buzz around the internet about Doctor Who season 10. Even though the new season will be airing next year, there is going to be worth while reading leading up to that point.

That of course only assumes Nu-Who episodes but even in Nu-Who, that statement somehow forgets Martha, Donna and Rory.
Yeah bare minimum is 5. If you want to minus Rory and Cap Jack.
Rose Tyler, Mickey Smith, Captain Jack Harkness, Martha Jones, Donna Noble, Amy Pond, Rory Williams, River Song, Clara Oswald….. Sure. 3. That totally adds up to 3.
