There are already some rumors about what characters Marvel might decide to bring to the screen next, and the studio certainly has a huge arsenal in their collection. If they want to keep bringing out new films with a varied roster of characters, they can easily do that for quite a while.
With that in mind, it wouldn’t be surprising if we saw Marvel toning down their work on their better-known names right now, and focusing on some more niche superheroes in 2017 and beyond. After that, there will be an even greater potential for combinations between characters, exploring situations that the comic books never saw.
That’s part of the reason why the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been such a hit, anyway. Many fans of the films are people who grew up with those characters in their comic book versions and enjoy seeing them in a new light right now, and Marvel have been smart to capitalize on that factor.
On the other hand, there’s always the risk that they could change things too fast and too much, but the studio seems smart enough to avoid this type of problem for the most part. Marvel are obviously paying close attention to the feedback to their films on a regular basis, as they’ve been steering their films in the right direction for a long time. The release of “Doctor Strange” only served to solidify that idea, and it gave fans even more hope.
