Ever since Bethesda announced that they’ll be attending this year’s E3 – a first for the company – there has been a lot of excitement among their fans in various online communities, as everyone has been speculating about what the company is planning to reveal at the show. There are not that many possibilities, and most heads are currently turned towards “Fallout 4”. However, there are also other rumors, and some sound quite plausible, while others are a bit far-fetched, such as the possibility of a “Fallout” MMO.
“Dishonored 2” is one title that has been rumored to be coming at E3, although some critics are claiming that it wouldn’t be a good time for the company to reveal that particular game. On one hand, the first “Dishonored” didn’t come out that long ago, and on the other, the market has become a bit saturated with games in this genre lately, so it could be a bit poorly placed in the current industry situation.
Then, we also have the fact that making such an announcement would be a huge kick in the gut for “Fallout” fans, and they will definitely not take that lightly. Bethesda already scored some negative points a few months back when they failed to deny some rumors about “Fallout 4” before they gained massive traction, leading many fans to express their disappointment in the company.
That alone should be a good indication that “Fallout 4” is precisely what’s coming at this year’s E3. Bethesda are well aware of the huge hype that surrounds the game, and they most definitely saw how excited “Fallout” fans became when the studio announced their presence at E3. If they were planning to announce something other than “Fallout 4”, the smart move for them would have been to come out and say so by this point. Judging by the fact that we haven’t heard anything from the company so far though, it’s somewhat obvious what we’re going to get.
As for the possibility of a “Fallout” MMO, that’s probably far-fetched wishful thinking more than anything else, considering the game’s poor potential for a MMO setting and gameplay. While it is possible that Bethesda could pull it off, it’s a risky move, and it would also disappoint their fans significantly if the project fails.
There are several months to go until E3, and it looks like they will be the longest several months for most fans of “Fallout”. Hopefully, once the big date rolls around, it won’t be a disappointment, and Bethesda will actually live up to the expectations. And who knows, we might actually get an even more unexpected surprise at this year’s E3, knowing Bethesda.
