Did the Successor to the Motorola Moto G2 Get Leaked? Let’s See

While everyone is still enjoying the Motorola Moto G2, another device might be coming up on the horizon – according to the latest rumors, the company is preparing to launch a third-generation Moto G, but we don’t know many details about the new phone so far. In fact, what we do know is mostly in the form of rumors, so take it all with a grain of salt – but these rumors are getting stronger and stronger and it’s starting to look very likely that the phone is coming soon.

So far, Motorola have been performing quite well on the market with the Moto G and Moto E, and the third generation Moto G could definitely continue the trend that the line has set. It’s not very clear what they’re planning to name it, as the naming convention of the last device was already confusing enough – the Moto G2 isn’t actually officially called that, rather the “second generation Moto G”, so this might be the “third one”.

As some have pointed out, it doesn’t make much sense to call it the Moto G 2015, as we’ve already had a model in this line coming out this year. That was the Moto G 4G which was a revised version of the second generation of the device. So far, we have four phones in this line – the Moto G, Moto G 4G, Moto G second generation, and Moto G 4G second generation.

Confusing? It might get even more so once the new phone is released if Motorola don’t settle on any naming convention for good. But for now, we have no idea when the next model is arriving, nor how much it’s going to cost. We would expect it to continue the trend of relatively cheap devices though, as Motorola have been successfully attracting a large number of customers with the prices of the last devices in this line.

We’ve seen what was alleged to be some images of the device, showing a design quite similar to that of previous models. This one seems to add a texture to the rear cover, as well as a metal-looking strip in the middle of the body, likely for the camera and flash combo.

Other than that, rumors claim that the device will come with a 5-inch screen and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, as well as 1 GB of RAM. It would also offer 8 GB of built-in storage and a microSD slot, plus full 4G support, something that was missing from the previous model’s original release.

  1. LTE or forget it. That is why I sent the 4G version back. It seems like AT&T has completely forgotten 3G/4G signals where I live.
