‘Diablo 3’ Still Holding its Own as One of the Best Action Role-Playing Games

The action role-playing game “Diablo 3” first came out in the PC and the Mac OS in May 2012, before a console version was released to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013. Subsequently, in August of last year, “Diablo 3” was released on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

Developed by Blizzard Entertainment, “Diablo 3” holds the record as the fastest-selling PC game when it sold 3.5 million copies within the first 24 hours after its release in 2012. It eventually went on to become the best-selling PC game of 2012, selling over 12 million copies from the time it came out in May up to the end of the year.

“Diablo 3” has since sold 15 million copies across all gaming platforms, indicating that since its release on the PC and Mac, sales has significantly slowed down for the video game.

Despite its acclaim from both gamers and critics, the initial problems of “Diablo 3” were well documented including server stability issues, an overbearing plot, lack of end game content, excessive difficulty, and the damnable auction house, notes Venture Beat.

The game was also criticized for its digital rights management that requires an internet connection at all times before gamers can play the game.

Quite a good game

Amid the criticisms, “Diablo 3” still managed to hold its own against other action role-playing games or other video games in general because it is really a good game, which gamers can really attest to.

Game developer Blizzard has also never been remiss in releasing patches or updates which have addressed and eliminated the major problems of players on “Diablo 3.”

Its expansion pack “Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls” made it an even greater action role-playing game even as it addressed the remaining issues that have been bugging “Diablo 3.” It was first released on the PC and the Mac on March 25, 2014 before the console version was released on the gaming consoles – PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 – on August 19, 2014 that came with the “Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition” version.

The “Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition” includes the original console version of “Diablo 3” and the “Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls” expansion pack.

While “Diablo 3” is admittedly a tough game or presents some degree of difficulty to gamers, but its sound and animation are quite superb. As the player progresses to the higher levels, the situation onscreen becomes increasingly complicated but “Diablo 3” has enough to make it feel comprehensible to gamers.

Incredibly satisfying

The game interface is quite helpful too including the little things like holding down the mouse button to continue firing at the original enemy even if it’s ported to the other side of the screen. Most of the gamers have really found fighting in “Diablo 3” incredibly satisfying. It has also been ported to consoles and their controllers to great and successful reviews.

“Diablo 3” has certainly evolved into a game entirely focused on combat. The encounter design is effective for calling multiple groups of the enemy together, turning fights into mobile, dynamic affairs, especially when multiple bosses get into place.

Incidentally, Blizzard announced that it will be releasing Patch 2.3 soon which Battle.net detailed to be officially titled “Ruins of Sescheron.”

Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls

Sescheron was once a living symbol of united Barbarian tribes. Its gates guarded the lone path to Sanctuary’s most precious treasure, the Worldstone, and the Children of Bul-Kathos were tasked with defending those gates. It was believed that the city would never fall, and the people of the Northern Steppes would always stand vigilant.

Eventually, Sescheron fell to the hands of evil forces and was left in ruins. From a previously bustling city, Sescheron is now filled with the distant howls of madmen, glimpses of hungry beasts prowling in shadows, and an air thick with the palpable weight of shattered hope. What was left from its glory days was the ‘Ruins of Sescheron.’
