Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls: New Legendaries and Conquests Introduced in Season 2!

Blizzard have decided to make things more interesting for “Diablo” fans with the way they’re maintaining the third installment in the game – the company has announced that new seasons in the online ladder will introduce various interesting changes to the mix, and they are already planning to deliver exciting new content when the second season rolls around.

According to the company, new content will be added to the game with Season 2, starting with new Legendaries – which will be seasonal, of course – some of which will be related to items from the last season. In addition, the new items will bring new affixes to the table, with effects that will drastically redefine the way the game is played, according to Blizzard. The new Legendary loot will be added to the standard item drops once the season is over, just like the company has planned for the items from the previous season.

Blizzard are also reportedly reevaluating their approach to Conquests in the new season, and they will now encourage players to play in more interesting, refreshing ways, instead of stimulating a constant grind to chase a particular level. According to the company, the way they’ve been doing Conquests in the last season has actually resulted in a playing style that’s the exact opposite of what they’re trying to achieve, and the developers have been overall disappointed with the way Conquests have worked out so far. Because of this, the concept will be completely reworked in Season 2.

This has been one of the main points of criticism towards Diablo 3 so far, as the game itself seems to be aimed at a grinding style of playing to begin with, but Challenges made that issue even more noticeable in Season 1.

So far, it’s not known exactly when Season 2 will land, but Blizzard have stated that they’ll give players plenty of advance warning to let them clean up their current tasks in Season 1. There will be a notification at least 30 days before the season comes out, so players should keep their eyes out on official channels if they’re currently building a character that relies on Season 1 content.

The new season will only be available to PC players, and according to Blizzard, there are no plans to introduce it to consoles at the time. This is due to the fact that the console version of the game works differently, focusing more on the single-player offline experience, and it does not lend itself too well to the style of gameplay that Blizzard are aiming for with the concept of seasons. It’s not known if the console versions will eventually get a replacement for seasons.
