Diabetes Warning Issued For Type 2 Sufferers!

Diabetes is a very bad disease to have and your body will be worked to the point that it will just give up at some point. When you have Type 2 Diabetes, you are producing insulin inside your body, but the body is not sure how to use it properly. The other side of Type 2 is that your pancreas is not making enough insulin and that is why you are going to have to manage it yourself. The sugar in your blood is not getting where it is supposed to go and that is diabetes.

Some of the things that can happen to your body when you are a diabetic include dehydration, a diabetic coma and severe damage to the body over a long period of time. The high levels of glucose in your blood can damage your eyes, heart and kidneys just to start with. Anyone can get Type 2 Diabetes, but it is more common in those that are over the age of 45, overweight, have family with the same, do not exercise and have high blood pressure.

Just recently, the FDA issues a warning for those that use drugs to treat Type 2 Diabetes. There is a certain type of drug that you use to treat the disease that can lead to a life threatening condition called ketoacidosis. The prescription drugs are supposed to work well with the kidneys in order to remove the sugar from the blood and urine. The FDA has been keeping track of reports that the drugs causes this condition and between March 2013 and June of last year, the FDA reported 20 cases where the blood acid levels were to high in patients.

If you are not treated by a doctor when you find that the condition has started, a diabetic coma or even death can be the result. The reason that the FDA has been keeping a close eye on the problem is that the condition usually happens with those with Type 1 Diabetes. In all of the 20 reported cases, the patients had Type 2. This led the investigation to assume it was a drug that was being taken and when it was found they all had taken a similar drug, that is when the report was made.

If you are taking any SGLT2 inhibitors you should be monitoring yourself for any symptoms of ketoacidosis. If you find that you are nauseous, have abdominal pain, are confused, sleeping more or have been vomiting, you should seek medical attention right away. All 20 patients were emitted to the emergency room or hospital to be treated for the condition. Keeping an eye on your Keytones is not a hard thing to do since it can be monitored through a simple urine test.
