“Devious Maids” has been putting Spence through quite the trial lately, as his time in prison hasn’t been working out very well for the character. Rosie, his wife, has been hard at work trying to come up with evidence of his innocence, and while it looks like she might have some success, things have meanwhile gotten even worse for Spence and it’s not clear how much more he’ll be able to endure. Hopefully Rosie will be able to set things straight sooner rather than later.
Judging by the promo recently released for episode 4, it looks like Spencer might be facing trouble from a particular inmate, as he explains his concerns to Rosie during a visit from her. It does seem like this gave Rosie even more motivation to find the proof she’s after though, so this might be an indication that things could get better for Spence in the near future.
It’s been hinted that episode 4 will be closely focused on her and her search of evidence, but we have no idea if her final answer will match her initial predictions. Rosie has had her eyes on Ben for quite a while now, convinced that he’s actually the one behind the murder that her husband is in prison for, but it wouldn’t be beyond the writers of this show to have been misleading their fans the whole time. It may very well turn out that someone else is the actual murderer, leading everyone to a surprising revelation.
While it’s been strongly implied that Ben has been behind everything so far, we don’t really know the truth any more than Rosie does. Ben was shown acting very suspiciously with regards to a witness in the criminal case, and his overall attitude hasn’t exactly been indicative of a remorseful state of mind. But in the end, as we said above, the writers of the show could be planning something entirely different.
The other plot lines of the show haven’t been forgotten of course, and we’ll see some developments on the front of Carmen and Daniela in episode 4. It’s not clear exactly how things will turn out, as apparently Carmen is taking some rather desperate measures to resolve the situation. Josefina, Daniela’s stepmother, comes into the picture, leading to an unexpected development for her.
It looks like episode 4 will pick up the pace, and we’re going to see some rapid developments on multiple fronts. Hopefully the producers are going to pay enough attention to every side of the story instead of rushing through this phase quickly, as fans seem to be particularly interested in how things are going to work out between Spence and Rosie. Forum discussions have looked at the situation from many different angles, and it’s clear that this is a point that the producers can utilize to a great extent if they want to maintain interest in the show at high levels.
We already saw some explosive developments in episode 3, and while some fans expected things to calm down a bit in the next installment in this season, the preview indicated that the producers don’t really have that in mind for the time being. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with that, as long as they can maintain the events on the screen sufficiently interesting to match the hype they’re creating along the way.
