And this is exactly what Bungie have been doing too, as they’ve managed to add quite a lot to the title since its launch, the recent most notable example being “The Taken King”.
The studio has been actively following the feedback from their players in developing new content for the game, and it’s not hard to make the connections between suggestions that have been brought up by fans and actually realized additions to the title itself. While Bungie aren’t that open in talking about their sources of inspiration, fans just need to see that their discussions are having an effect.
The potential of a game like this lies strongly on the ability of its developers to keep providing post-launch support and new content, as even though the title might start out in a good form and attract lots of players, it can also get stale quite quickly if the gameplay is kept relatively unchanged.
That’s why these content updates are just as important as maintenance patches and balance changes, as the game’s players need to regularly get new things to play around with, and explore new possible strategies both with regards to their enemies as well as their allies.
