“Destiny: The Taken King” is getting new content soon, even though the expansion was just recently released. It looks like players are going to get plenty of extra content in the future, and the developers are determined to keep the game alive and active with lots of different things to do and explore. And while the new content is still some time away, players at least have the expansion itself to play around with, and it’s been giving them quite a lot to enjoy.
And it looks like those who’re hungry for more information and want to find out exactly what kind of new content the expansion is going to get might have something to help them pass the time – there has recently been an alleged leak about the game’s upcoming additions, and the leak specifically talked about a brand new quest that will be added to the game, titled “A Tale of Two Guardians”. We don’t know if the leak is genuine or not – and as usual with these things, there is no real way to verify – but it has managed to generate a lot of hype within the community, and the source where it originated seems to have some credibility too.
According to speculation, the quest will make use of the “Refer-a-Friend” functionality that was brought to the scene recently, allowing players to obtain various special rewards, among which are primary telemetry, special telemetry and heavy telemetry. There are also other goodies coming with this quest and it looks like it’s going to be quite the good one for players who want to equip their characters better.
It will not only offer cosmetic rewards like new emoticons, but even special gameplay bonuses such as legendary weapons, and it looks like there will be plenty of good reasons to pass that quest. In the event that the leak is genuine, we still don’t know if Bungie might choose to rebalance the quest a little bit before they release it, so this should be taken with a grain of salt as it’s not guaranteed that it will be the final form of the quest.
If the speculation turns out to be true though, then players will need to work together with a friend in order to get through the new quest, and that’s where the “Refer-a-Friend” program comes in play. It’s also possible that the quests are still possible to complete solo, but will yield smaller rewards, according to speculation. Both options are possible in the eyes of most fans, and of course Bungie themselves have been keeping their lips tightly sealed as they obviously don’t want to spoil the surprise. Plus, the studio doesn’t really have much to gain from neither denying nor confirming the leak right now. If it’s true, then they probably have a plan about when they want to bring it to the public eye, and they would be reluctant to talk about it before then.
Meanwhile, the main game has been doing relatively well, with many players praising its fine balance of competitive and casual features, and claiming that it was a right move into the future for the shooter genre. At the same time, the title did have some minor problems which did not go by unnoticed, but the developers have at least been responsible and timely in addressing those issues, so players have been complaining less and less with each update. Currently, the game is in a pretty good state with not much left to fix other than to keep adding more exciting content.
