It does sound like the studio is still trying to figure out exactly what they want to do with the next installment in the franchise, so it will probably take a while until we find out what they are going to do with it. In any case, we expect that there will be some major improvements to the gameplay, given the time that’s passed since the release of the first “Destiny”.
The developers did many things right with the original game, but it was not without its flaws, especially in the long run when some of the balance issues started to really show. Of course, being a PvE game, it wasn’t affected that harshly by such problems, but some issues were still noticeable. Thankfully Bungie were quick to address them.
It’s possible that Bungie are going to do an extensive beta this time, in order to ensure that the game is properly polished for the final release – but again, the nature of its gameplay makes this more challenging compared to a regular PvP shooter.
We’ll find out in a few months in any case, but many fans of the original “Destiny” would definitely love a chance to see the game before it’s released, and to give their input on its balance and overall feeling. This has allowed several recent titles to become very successful right on their release days without needing urgent patches, and “Overwatch” is a good example of that, among other prominent names.
