Shortly before the release of the first major DLC for “Destiny”, some players were reporting strange issues with the game. Apparently, those who had pre-purchased the expansion pack were unable to play the game for a period of time. Upon launching it, they were instead presented with a timer counting down to the DLC’s release. Apparently, this was intended to be displayed for only certain parts of the game, relevant to the DLC, but was instead added before the main menu.
Regardless, the DLC is now out, and all players are able to enjoy the game once again. Players with active Twitch streams have taken the opportunity to immediately start showing the new content to their viewers, so those who are still on the fence regarding buying the expansion can just head over to Twitch and check out some of the streams.
The new expansion adds a variety of content to the game, including new equipment – weapons, armor, and additional customization – as well as an increased level cap. There are also new bounty slots available, and new multiplayer maps for competitive play. A brand new cooperative Strike has been introduced too, and players can now see a new resident in the Tower. Last but not least, those who enjoy playing in six-player parties will be able to do so in a brand new Raid just for this purpose.
All in all, the new DLC has been stated to be more than worth its price by most who have played it, and critics have been praising the developers for making such a solid addition to an already pretty finely polished game. The new update didn’t seem to upset the balance of the game in any significant way, and in fact, players have been reporting that the gameplay now feels smoother and more refined in many ways, when the new content is enabled.
This will not be the last DLC to be released for the game, if the developers’ plans go through – more packs are planned for the future, and while it’s not known what they will contain exactly, it’s rumored that the amount of content will go up with each new release. Which, considering the already impressive contents of the current DLC, would mean a very promising future for the game.
And indeed, “Destiny” has been treated very well by its developers so far, as they have been responding to player feedback regularly, and have been very careful in their development approach. Whenever new content is added, it’s always done in a way that minimizes the potential negative impact on the micro-balance, and players have been generally very satisfied with this trend.
