Despite Ushering LTE Connectivity to the iPhones, Apple iPhone 5 was a Short-Lived Innovation Wonder

iPhone’s sixth generation

The iPhone 5 is actually the sixth generation of the iPhone and featured major design changes compared to its immediate predecessor the iPhone 4S.

It came out with a taller screen and a 16:9 aspect ratio. It became only the second iPhone, after the iPhone 4S to include a Sony-made camera. The iPhone 5 sported an eight-megapixel rear-facing camera.

While many iPhone 5 are still in circulation these days, nothing has come out of the factory since September 2013. But Apple still continues to address some of the issues that have hounded the iPhone 5 including failing power buttons and problematic batteries, even though the iPhone 5 is already beyond its normal one-year warranty.

Apple initiated an out-of-warranty recall program to replace any failing power buttons on the iPhone 5 models on April 28, 2014. Some four months later, the American tech giant also announced a program to replace batteries of iPhone 5 models particularly those suffering shorter battery life and requires frequent charging.
