Although he has been married before, 51-year-old Johnny Depp does not believe that a good relationship needs a piece of paper called marriage.
That has been the paradigm of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star during his 14-year relationship with Vanessa Paradis, to whom he had two children – Lily Rose and Jack. Vanessa seems to be okay with it too as she never asked Johnny to marry her.
Johnny Depp also says that Vanessa has such a good surname that he does not want to ruin it by marrying her. He added that he never felt the need to get married because the relationship can stand without it.
But it seems Captain Jack Sparrow can’t say no to his 28-year-old fiancée Amber Heard when she asked him to marry her. And so he just did.
Reports have it that Johnny Depp and Amber Heard formally tied the knot in a simple ceremony in the actor’s private island called Little Hall’s Pond Cay in the Bahamas on February 3 that was attended only by 50 guests including the two children of Johnny Depp with Vanessa Paradis, details Yahoo! News.
Legalizing the union
Because of the promptness of the wedding, many believed that Johnny was simply giving in to the wisher of his beautiful and young fiancée, to whom he can’t say no.
The wedding had Johnny eating all his previous words against marriage. Apart from being branding it as just a piece of paper Depp has also previously said that two people in love do not need somebody to tell them that: “Okay, you’re married.”
Johnny also believes that marriage is really from soul to soul and heart to heart of two people in love. Sources close to the actor said that Johnny really loves Amber who feels the need for marriage more than Johnny because she wants to secure her future and wants to have a family with her fiancee someday.
Since the two children of Johnny with Vanessa were also part of the ceremonies, it is most likely that they are also in favor of their father marrying Amber.
Small but meaningful occasion
The nuptials were reportedly a very small event and it was held just to make their union official and legal. It appears however that there will be a post-wedding celebration being planned which will again be held on Johnny’s island in the Bahamas, with 50 guests again in attendance.
Johnny and Amber began dating in 2012 after starring together in “The Rum Diary.” The actor proposed to Amber in 2013 and the actress has been showing off their engagement ring ever since.
Johnny has been engaged several times to actresses Jennifer Grey, Sherilyn Fenn, and Winona Ryder, all of them pretty faces in Hollywood.
