Derrick Rose to Return and Play for the Bulls in the Playoffs

Derrick Rose is not out for the rest of the season as he will be back in four to six weeks time. Now that’s a bit of good news for the fans of the windy city ballclub.

Last week, it was reported that the Bulls point guard would be undergoing a third knee surgery in three years after a torn medial meniscus was discovered on his right knee.

Many were disappointed of the news since just before the NBA All-Star break, Rose was already showing flashes of his fine and brilliant form. Everyone was actually thinking that the patented Bull run would most likely happen during the second half of the season when Rose is already healthy.

While many were already writing off Rose for the rest of the current NBA season because of his recent surgery, similar to two season-ending injuries and surgeries that followed in the him in the past three years, the Bulls management surprised everybody when it said that Rose may be back to play again for the team come the playoffs.

Encouraging sign

Chicago Bulls general manager Gar Forman announced that Derrick Rose may be back in four to six weeks time since the All-Star point guard have successfully overcome the minor surgery on February 26, reports the Yardbarker.

Forman says that Rose will be back on the lineup very soon as there were incredibly encouraging signs that the surgery went so well.

During the surgery, the damaged portion of the medial meniscus was removed from Rose’s right knee. Forman said that the surgery was a fairly common procedure done with NBA players and the players normally come back with their full strength.

Once he is cleared to play, Rose will be able to start loading up and doing basketball activities within a week’s time. Apparently, the Bulls point guard really wants to come back early and play for his team so much so that an aggressive rehabilitation schedule was set for him starting this coming weekend.

Playoff chances

If the healing process of Derrick Rose goes according to projection of four to six weeks from now, then the All-Star point guard might return and start playing in April.

That timetable will just be about right since the Bulls will be wrapping up its regular season campaign by then.

Chicago is expected to finish the season on the upper half of the Eastern Conference playoff ranking, assuring it of home court advantage during the first round of the playoffs.

If and when Rose returns, then his play would be very crucial for the hopes of Chicago to go deep in the playoffs this time. The Bulls reached the playoffs last year but it got waylaid by the Washington Wizards four games to one in the first round.

With a healthy Rose in the Bulls lineup, and showing signs of his brilliant form before he underwent surgery last week, things are really looking good for Chicago that they may indeed go deeper into the playoffs.
