Derrick Rose is not the luckiest player lately, as it’s just been revealed that he’s torn the meniscus in his right knee, requiring surgery – and he could potentially be out of the game for the remaining season, an announcement that prompted many responses of disbelief among fans and professional commenters of the sport.
That’s because this isn’t the first time something like this is happening to Rose, after he tore his left ACL and was forced to miss another season previously. Then, he tore his right meniscus after just ten games – it seems that the player doesn’t protect his body too much during games.
Which, according to some, is actually quite amazing when looked from the right perspective – few players could possibly take so much abuse in their careers and still be able to come out and play, so if Derrick Rose resumes (which we have all reasons to believe he will), that should speak quite a bit about his perseverance and character. At the same time, it would perhaps benefit him a little more if he just started paying attention to preserving his body in the first place.
Of course, that’s easy to say from the outside, but it’s a known fact that Derrick Rose has been suffering from certain types of problems that make his situation even more difficult. The player has been reported to have problems with his brain, which have further added to the troubling nature of his situation, preventing him from recovering as quickly as he should in some situation.
He definitely seems confident about his future though – in a recent interview with USA Today Sports, he said that he’s still looking forward to winning many games, and he hasn’t realized his full potential yet. And it’s definitely true that he’s still relatively young and could have many successful years ahead of him if he doesn’t go through any more periods of inactivity due to health problems.
We’re yet to see if the current injury will have any more serious repercussions than what we’ve been told already, and according to some, it’s entirely possible that he may have to skip even more than just the current season if there are additional complications with his knee. Hopefully we won’t have to hear about that, and he’ll make a full recovery soon enough.
Some of his fans have been commenting that if karma exists, Rose should have something really huge coming up in his career to compensate for all he’s gone through already, although looking at how the careers of some other players have ended before, it’s hard to say if that’s a plausible scenario at all.
