Demi Lovato Transforms from a Former Disney Princess to Action Heroine in New Music Video for ‘Confident’!

Demi Lovato’s cutesy days as a former Disney princess are over. At 23 years of age, the singer-actress is ready to take on more challenging roles. For her new music video for her single “Confident,” she transforms into an action heroine.

She plays a hardened criminal in her MTV for “Confident” where she is locked up in a maximum security prison and then she goes to battle against the tough girl, Michelle Rodriguez. The music video is helmed by “Sin City” director Robert Rodriguez, details the Daily Mail.

The 37-year-old “Fast & Furious” star practically took the same route to stardom when she appeared in “Girl Fight” back in 2000 where she took on the role of a tough gal. Michelle has since made the action genre a staple of her acting career, having starred in two successful action film series – “Resident Evil” and “Fast & Furious.”

Given her height compared to Rodriguez, it seems that right at the onset, Demi appears to be an undermatch to Michelle. But towards the end of the music video, Demi and Michelle discovered that they are fighting for the same cause and thus decided to team up and fight the people who set them up.

The story of the music video

The music video of “Confident” actually has a good story. As an inmate of the maximum security prison, Demi was asked by the US Marshalls if she can help them track down and capture Michelle in exchange for full exoneration.

Demi agrees to the deal and she was quickly branded a mysterious symbol on her forearm. She then wears a skintight Lycra suit with a belt made of bullets. Next thing she knows, she was already tracking Michelle in a warehouse district.

She thought that she had the number of Michelle by surrounding her using her assigned team. But instead of going after Rodriguez, the team of men that she came with double-crossed her and instead attack her.

She then draws on her martial arts skills and high-flying kicks to extricate herself out of the sticky situation. Just when she was already gaining the upper hand, a taekwondo expert kicked her in the head so she got slowed down. That’s when Michelle beat her to a pulp.

Demi was then turned over to police custody and for some unexplained reason is being charged with treason. But as she is being taken back to prison through a bus, Demi escapes and ends up landing on top of Michelle’s truck, which was following the bus.

Teaming up to fight a common enemy

A tense and vicious martial arts battle ensues between Demi and Michelle. Michelle initially has the upper hand, beating Demi once again to a pulp. Demi then shows to Michelle the strange symbol on her forearm, which Michelle also happens to have the same marking.

That’s when the two of them decided to team up and take down the corrupt forces who have been playing them like pawns. They then ride off into the sunset as they throw caution and all plot sense to the wind.

Critics say that the music video of “Confident” is not for wallflowers and the soft-hearted. It has some high-octane sequences that could definitely hold their own against big-budgeted action movies, notes the Billboard.

“Confident” is the title track for Demi’s new album slated to be released on October 16. Early this week, Demi also release another song in the “Confident” album titled “Stone Cold.”
