Demi Lovato is just 22 years old, but she is taking the music world by storm recently. If you see a photo of her and think that she looks familiar that is because she got her start on Barney & Friends. All grown up now, the American actress, singer and songwriter has been very busy with the release of her fifth album. She has been a judge and mentor on The X Factor back in 2012 and 2013 as well, keeping her eyes pealed for the next big star.
Recently, Demi Lovato made headlines when she dedicated one of her songs to Bruce Jenner during one of her concerts. Bruce Jenner has recently been interviewed by 20/20 where he opens up about being a transgender woman. The interview with Diane Sawyer was a very hot topic because most of the world remembers Bruce Jenner as the Olympian and reality television star. Jenner has been making the talk show circuit talking about his situation and support has come from the Kardashians and other celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Sam Smith.
Demi Lovato calls Jenner an “American Hero” for coming out the way he did and she preceded to dedicate her song, “Warrior” to him while on stage at a show in Auckland, New Zealand. During the show, Demi Lovato announced that she would like to dedicate a song, even though it seemed weird for her to do so. She went on to say that she wanted to dedicate a song to a person “who became a bigger hero”, referring to Jenner.
There are many people that are likely to have a problem with her dedicating anything to Bruce Jenner. In fact, according to one source that posted online, there was a bigger issue at hand as Nepal had just experienced one of the biggest earthquakes in the area where more than 4,000 people lost their lives. Besides touring the world and singing her songs, it appears that Demi Lovato is going to be an advocate for Jenner’s new lifestyle.
This would not be the first time that she has been in the spotlight for giving a little back due to her successes. She has been highlighted for her work with teens that are suffering from mental health issues and has also become an advocate for the LGBT community. She has been the Grand Marshal for LA Pride week and has become the face for HRC’s America’s for Marriage Equality Campaign.
