There was a black cloud over the next James Bond movie since Daniel Craig had made it very clear that he doesn’t want to reprise the role of Bond in any more films. He went to the extent of saying that he wouldn’t mind cutting his wrist when compared to playing the character again.
The news of Daniel Craig’s decision spread like wildfire. Fans started speculating on who which actor would be a good candidate for James Bond. The top choice was Michael Fassbender.
The actor, however, was pretty shocked on finding out that he is the leading contender for the role of James Bond. Fassbender spoke up about being the future James Bond. He said that he doesn’t want to play the role of the character since he feels that Daniel Craig has done a great job and no actor from their generation could do justice to the character after Craig.
Fassbender is open to the idea of a younger James Bond. He suggested that James Bond should be brought back with a younger actor, someone in their early twenties. He also suggested that the producers of the franchise could work with an American actor for a change and might even consider a woman in the role of James Bond.
Fassbender might not be open to James Bond, but he makes an excellent assassin. He will appear in a featurette for Assassin’s Creed, the film.
Apart from Fassbender, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, and Aidan Turner were also being considered for the role of James Bond.
Sir Roger Moore, who has played the role of James Bond in seven films believes that Poldark actor, Aidan Turner would be a great successor to Daniel Craig for the franchise. Sir Roger Moore’s choice for the next James Bond gained support from Robin Ellis.
According to The Week, Robin Ellis believed that Aidan Turner was quite capable of playing the role of James Bond. Turner has received acclamation for his role as Poldark, and he already has a brooding presence.
Turner has come out to deny the rumors that he would be the next James Bond.
The planning for the next James Bond movie is already on. There won’t be a need to search for a new actor to take over the role of James Bond from Craig since the actor has agreed to continue with the franchise.
Daniel Craig, who had previously refused to be a part of anymore James Bond films has officially announced that he loves his job as James Bond and would be back for more films. The franchise heads, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have always considered Daniel Craig to be their top choice and they have successfully convinced the actor to be back for the next James Bond movie.
