Dancing with the Stars Season 23 ended with Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy winning the Mirror Ball trophy. They competed with James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess and Calvin Johnson and Lindsay Arnold in the finale.
The finals for Dancing with the Stars Season 23 continued for two nights this time. The first night saw Jana Kramer and her partner Gleb Savchenko get eliminated. Savchenko was battling the flu on the night of the performance, and they didn’t please the audience and had to bow out of the competition.
Ever since Season 23 of Dancing with the Stars started, the viewers had thought that Laurie Hernandez might win the competition. She had been the crowd favorite all along and finally did go on to clinch the title.
The 16-year old Olympic gymnast charmed viewers with her dance moves. Her Olympic training inevitably came to use on the dance floor. She worked hard and made sure that she charmed the judges in every round to go to the next.
Dancing with the Stars Season 23 was ruled by athletes this season. First, there was Lauri Hernandez, and then there was NFL superstar Calvin Johnson and IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe who started off as underdogs. They kept performing well and charmed the judges with their personalities and skills.
Johnson and Hinchcliffe kept the hope of the fans alive since they improved their game every week and didn’t give the judges the scope to send them to elimination.
E! Online reported that the while the viewers love Dancing with the Stars Season 23, they found the season a tad boring and predictable. They knew that if Laurie Hernandez reached the finals, there was no way that Calvin Johnson or James Hinchcliffe would get a chance to win.
Laurie Hernandez is fresh from the Olympics, where she won medals and the whole country was charmed by her. When the announcement of the winners was made, the viewers were already prepared for it.
Dancing with the Stars Season 23 has had a great run. The season saw some brilliant performances. From Maks Chmerkovskiy as Khal Drogo to a Viennese Waltz theme after Willy Wonka and the viewers also the romance between Rick Perry and Vanilla Ice.
The build up to the finals of Dancing with the Stars Season 23 was an interesting one. Before the finalists can get to the final round of dancing, they are each given two dance styles and asked to put up a routine for the same within a single day.
The three finalists then get a chance to perform their favorite dance numbers from the whole season. EW reported that James Hinchcliffe and partner Sharna Burgess chose to perform the fun foxtrot, which they had done for the Cirque Week.
Calvin Johnson and Lindsay Arnold decided to do the Argentine tango, which had one of those perfect windmill lifts and Laurie Hernandez brought in Val’s twin Maks and performed with the two together, once again.
For the 24-hour fusion challenge, James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess are good. They have amazing chemistry and the fact that they are given two dance styles that James had already performed to – foxtrot and Viennese Waltz, helped a lot with the nerves. The couple was graceful and elegant during the performance, as everyone had expected them to be. Hinchcliffe and Burgess end up with a perfect score of 40 from the judges who are emotional after the performance.
