In order to have some sort of fallback in the event that the 65-year-old former Olympic gold medalist does not agree to join Season 21 of “Dancing with the Stars,” the show is looking at tapping other celebrities already. Their list is composed of Latino singing superstar Ricky Martin, actresses Heather Locklear and Marilu Henner, supermodel Christine Brinkley, “Glee” actor Chirs Colfer, and singer Nick Lachey.
Lachey’s brother and 98 Degrees bandmate Drew joined the show in Season 2 and won. There were also rumors going around that veteran actress Demi Moore might join the competition especially after her daughter Rumer Willis participated and won the Mirror Ball trophy on Season 20.
“Dancing with the Stars” has been airing on ABC since 2005. It is the American version of the British TV series “Strictly Come Dancing.”
Emmy Award winner Tom Bergeron is the host of the show alongside Erin Andrews, who officially became co-host during the show’s Season 18. Before Andrews, Bergeron shared hosting spotlights on “Dancing with the Stars” with Lisa Canning on Season 1, Samantha Harris from Season 2 to 9, and Brooke Burke-Charvet from Season 10 to 17.
The contestant pairs in the TV show consist of a celebrity paired with a professional dancer. Previous celebrity contestants to “Dancing with the Stars” have included professional and Olympic athletes, supermodels, actors, singers, and even astronauts.
ABC will be introducing the celebrity contestants for Season 21 of “Dancing with the Stars” in the morning TV show “Good Morning America” sometime next month.
The show jumped the shark when it used Olympian Gold Medal skaters as contestants who were dance students as part of their training…when they won it (THEY—there were two mirrored-ball Champions that fit this)…I knew it was NOT A FAIR CONTEST….. Now this! Isn’t it bad enough Caitlyn took the ESPN award away from some others more deserving? Shame on ABC for even considering this! Another reason to tune out~
I would be glued to my TV watching two men hoofing it together while one strains to lift the other. It would be good entertainment for sure.
