After gaining a lot of fame and popularity for his role in “Downtown Abbey”, Dan Stevens is now moving on to “Beauty and the Beast”, where he will star opposite Emma Watson, according to the most recent reports. So far, the star is still in the negotiation stages for his role, but reports indicate that things are looking good and he definitely has a shot at getting the role of the Beast.
The film has generated a lot of hype ever since its announcement, as it usually happens with anything related to a Disney story. The choice of actors for the new production has been praised by fans and critics alike, and it looks like a lot of attention is being paid to ensuring that “Beauty and the Beast” will be a solid film right from the start. Which is certainly good, because there are a lot of eyes firmly fixed on the production right now, and it’s obvious that this is a movie that will be heavily discussed upon its release.
In addition to that, it’s also been announced that Luke Evans will play the role of Gaston, further adding to the already high excitement surrounding the film’s production. Who else will be announced, and are the producers planning to make any major changes to the plot, or are they mostly going to keep it intact from the original story?
There has also been some speculation that the new film could actually be a musical and not a regular movie, and according to most critics, that would actually make a lot of sense and would be the perfect modification to the original theme. “Beauty and the Beast” is one of the better-suited Disney princess stories for the potential of a musical, and if Disney play their cards right, this could be a very successful production just based on its genre alone.
Fans have of course been speculating wildly about the possibilities for the new film, and there are lots of suggestions being thrown around, regarding both actors as well as plot details. Some fans apparently want the film’s producers to take a little more liberty with the plot, modifying it to make the story a bit more “modernized”, while others are in the opposite camp and want the film to stick to the original storyline as much as possible.
Both sides have their points, but judging by the fact that the film is already being rumored to be a musical, its producers are obviously considering some serious changes to the plot already. The only thing that remains to be answered now is whether or not we’ll see those changes actually materializing, although that will take some time.
