While it no longer surprised her that “Fifty Shades of Grey” broke all Valentine’s Day box office records, Dakota Johnson says that she feels overwhelmed with the success of the film and also the congratulatory messages from her friends and loved ones.
Dakota revealed that she felt really crazy when the movie was finally released on February 13. But when the movie debuted as the new Valentine’s Day blockbuster of all time, she couldn’t be any happier for it.
The 25-year-old daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson says that she felt great and amazing upon learning that the movie did great at the tills.
She also received an unexpected bonus from her friends and loved ones when they started calling her and extended congratulatory messages to her for her riveting performance in the movie as Anastasia Steele.
Dakota figured in a lot of steamy and BDSM sex scenes throughout the movie, but Director Sam Taylor-Johnson really showed it as an art film and not a sex movie.
The movie is based on the E.L. James’s erotic novel that also has the same title, points out Yahoo! News.
Very supportive family
More than being proud of the blockbuster success of “Fifty Shades of Grey,” Dakota is also overwhelmed by the support she is getting from her family and loved ones.
She says that she received a lot of e-mails from her family members who all said that they were happy for her. She felt really happy and excited too for their support. Dakota said that she finds it really incredible and almost can’t believe it herself but she’s trying her best to contain her emotions and deal with it.
Dakota however said that she does not believe her grandparents will have the interest in watching the movie and so do her parents and even former stepfather Antonio Banderas. At least not in the foreseeable future, she says.
Not worried about the reaction of the folks
The 25-year-old actress says she is never worried about the possible reaction of her parents if and when they see “Fifty Shades of Grey.” She says that they’re both actors so she knows that they would not mind all the steamy sex scenes that she did in the film because they obviously know that it’s just in the movie.
She also said that her grandmother might probably watch the movie in the near future but has no idea if her parents would.
Currently living in Los Angeles, Dakota has disclosed how fame and popularity might alter the course of her life because of the success of “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
She told a British magazine that she grew up in LA which she considers her home but she is willing to live elsewhere like Nashville in Tennessee or New York or even on a Colorado ranch because her life is now transitioning. Eventually, when she’s not acting, she would like to go to the ranch and have lot of kids and animals, which to her is her definition of a great life.
