According to reports, the delay in the announcement of the renewal decision of CBS for “Criminal Minds” Season 11 had something to do with finance matters as usual.
As an 11-year-old TV series, “Criminal Minds” has grown to become expensive as a network production and it would be a burden for a network to cover the costs full freight.
The good thing is that the series is actually a co-production of ABC Studios and CBS TV Studios, with ABC Studios as the leading studio, reaping most of the benefits including international sales because “Criminal Minds” is quite strong overseas.
“Criminal Minds” is also doing very well on streaming platforms.
ABC Studios has reportedly agreed to the renewal at a reduced license fee having earlier set an incentive to produce episodes.
Another reason for the delay in the decision to renew “Criminal Minds” for Season 12 was the fact that CBS has already okayed the spinoff TV series “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” about the time when it made the mass renewals of shows in its fold including freshman dramas like “Limitless,” “Supergirl,” and “Code Black.”
Created by Jeff Davis and produced by Mark Gordon Company, “Criminal Minds” is a TV series that follows the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) as they use profiling to solve brutal crimes.
