Thomas Gibson himself seems positive about the whole thing, for what it’s worth, and it looks like the actor isn’t going to lament the loss of his role on the show for too long.
According to him, this is a “new beginning” and not the end of anything, so it will be interesting to see where he takes his career next, and if he will be able to make some use of the whole situation with him and the show’s writer.
Obviously, many fans are hopeful that the writers won’t completely block him from coming back, but that’s up to the people running the show right now. All we can do is sit back and watch the next season once it arrives to the screen. If the changes turn out to be too much for this show, then this will be reflected in the ratings.
And hopefully it will provoke the producers to look for a solution, and possibly talk to Gibson about coming back. That last part is more wishful thinking at this point, knowing how most such relationships tend to turn out in the industry, but maybe things can work out here as an exception for once. It would be great for the numerous fans of “Criminal Minds”, after all, and we don’t doubt that it will very likely work wonders for the show’s ratings in the long run as well.
