Could the Xiaomi Mi5 Be a Worthy Successor to the Popular Line

Xiaomi’s Mi line of smartphones has evolved quite a bit since its original inception, and even though some have commented that the smartphones could have received a better upgrade in the transition from the Mi3 to the Mi4, the overall quality of the phones is still quite good compared to the majority of the company’s competitors. Now, with the Mi5 coming up, many are hopeful that the phone will continue the legacy of the line and will be a solid entry into the smartphone market.

So far, we don’t know what the specifications of the new device will be – all we have are a few rumors, and while some of them do seem plausible, we won’t really know for sure until Xiaomi themselves decide to make an official statement. Still, we’ve heard that the phone could feature the new 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor, along with 3 GB of RAM, all running underneath a 5.5 inch display.

Reports on the resolution are conflicting and it’s hard to say for sure how many pixels the Mi5’s screen is going to have, and it’s perfectly possible that Xiaomi might decide to make it a high-resolution device, especially with the already large screen which will require some extra pixels to achieve a sharp picture quality.

There have also been rumors that the phone would have 4 GB of RAM and not 3, which would make it a very serious Android powerhouse, a stronger phone than almost every other device in the market. Combined with its rumored water resistance, external coolers and USB 3.0 support, this will be a beast of a smartphone if all rumors about it turn out to be true.

According to many tech reviewers, even half of the rumors would be a pretty impressive achievement, so we are curious to see what Xiaomi have prepared with the Mi5. It’s also interesting to see if the company is planning to revise their marketing strategy with the release of the Mi5, as so far they haven’t been very active in their marketing efforts, at least compared to major companies in the market.

Xiaomi could definitely benefit from a stronger advertising presence on the market, even if they already have an established fan following – but of course, this would all mean nothing if the actual phone isn’t good enough to hype up buyers about it. Whether or not it is, we’ll likely see in the coming weeks/months. Xiaomi are a secretive company in general and they are very careful with keeping their information secret, so we’re not hoping for many leaks to come out from behind their doors before they decide to make an actual official announcement themselves.
