It’s been quite a long time since “The Incredibles” came out to solid positive reception, and the film managed to solidify Pixar’s positions on the market, even though the studio was already quite prominent with their previous works. Lately, we’ve been hearing rumors that we might soon get an announcement for a sequel to the classic animation, but Disney have been quiet on the issue and apparently don’t want to reveal anything yet. They don’t want to give any official release date, and the only thing they have officially confirmed about “The Incredibles 2” was that the film is being worked on.
This was announced by the CEO of Disney himself, Bob Iger, around one year ago in 2014. Since then, the studio has been quiet about the film and we don’t know how their progress has been coming along. Of course, if the sequel was cancelled at some point during that time, we would have heard already. With so much prominent creative talent reportedly on board for the new film, it’s not very likely that they could keep its cancellation a secret if it happens.
On that topic, rumors about the cast of the new film have been mixed, and we don’t really know if any of the original actors will be coming back for the sequel. We do know that the film will feature many of the original characters, but since this is an animation, Disney don’t necessarily have to use the same voice actors for them. It’s possible that they can even change the entire cast without anyone noticing, although it would certainly be disappointing to some fans of the original, who enjoyed it primarily for the original style of its voice acting.
There is also speculation that the plot of the new film will move the timeline a bit into the future, with everyone all grown up now. What’s more, Jack-Jack, the child of the Parr family, will reportedly be the focus of the story as a villain will attempt to convert him to his side and turn him into his evil accomplice. Jack-Jack, who’s feeling troubled by his inability to properly control his special skills, will apparently willingly join the villain’s side too.
It sounds like the plot of “The Incredibles 2” could get quite dramatic and a bit more emotional than that of the original. When is the film actually coming though? That’s a difficult question – Disney have recently scheduled to specific dates for unknown announcements, November 22, 2017 and June 15, 2018, and there has been speculation that one of those two is for the revelation of “The Incredibles 2” precisely. However, that’s just a rumor at this point, and Disney haven’t confirmed anything themselves.
