Microsoft has been trying for years to take some of that valuable mobile device market share away from companies like Google, Samsung, LG and even Apple. The problem with the Microsoft approach is the company wants to market their way into your home and not just concentrate on building lightweight, user friendly devices that everyone will talk about on their own. The Surface Pro tablets first hit the market back in February of 2013 and it quickly got the attention of Microsoft loyal fans, but things did not pan out in the sale department.
Currently, there are three versions of the Microsoft Surface Pro tablet on the market and as retailers look to offload the third installment with reduced prices, they are wondering how they are going to sell the Surface Pro 4. The fourth installment of the semi-popular Surface Pro tablet is expected to come with Microsoft 10 pre-installed on it and compete directly with the brand new Apple iPad Air.
Earlier rumors made it sound like the company was finally going to kill the Surface Pro production, but Microsoft made a comment publicly that denied that rumor almost as fast as it showed up online. In addition to the denial, the company said that consumers should feel confident about buying the Surface Pro tablet. Unfortunately for the last few years the sales numbers would indicate that consumers are all buy comfortable buying it. Apple has taken the number one spot in the tablet market since the first iPad showed up and it will take a lot from any company to take that away.
Currently rumors are indicating that Microsoft could be planning on two new models that are even larger than the 12-inch, coming to market with a 13 and 14-inch model. Microsoft is claiming they will not be making many overall design changes to the next model that arrives, so you can expect that the 4th edition look very similar to the 3rd edition that launched back in June of this year.
The biggest advantage coming from the Surface Pro tablets is that they can run both mobile and desktop applications. Plus, each unit comes with its own detachable keyboard which is a nice addition to the mobile device if you are going to use it like a small laptop. According to sources, the device will be able to run full versions of programs like Adobe Photoshop, giving creative minds an option while on the go. Adobe also sees the need for mobile versions of its popular programs and has released new versions for tablets and smartphones.
