Continuum Season 3 ended with a breathtaking finale. Now the fans are hanging high and dry with no official news of the Canadian series being slated for a new season.
Continuum is a Canadian sci-fi thriller created by Simon Barry. It is based on the year 2077 and revolves around a conflict between rebel groups. The rebels time travel to the Vancouver of 2012. They time travel in an attempt to stop the governments in the future from being replaced by corporations.
While the rebels time travel, they are accidentally accompanied by a police officer – played by Rachel Nichols. The show follows how Nichols tries to stop the rebels from acts of dissent, and taking precautions to stop others from realising that they are from the future.
In an interview in May this year, creator Simon Barry had spoken about plans to continue Continuum for at least seven to ten seasons. The story they have at hand is not going to end with three seasons. This got the fans all excited. Rachel Nichols, the lead actress of Continuum, further revealed that Continuum Season 4 is going to explore a different side of Kiera.
Executive producers had revealed that news regarding Continuum Season 4 will be announced by Shaw Media, the production company, by August. However, no news of a renewal or cancellation has been announced till date.
Canadian media had reported that the talks for Continuum Season 4 have halted because of financial problems, although, we have no official word on this yet. The science fiction series has an interesting plot with well crafted characters. Fans of Sci-Fi series like Lost and Battlestar Galactica would like Continuum. When Syfy started airing the series in the United States back in 2013, it picked up a huge fan following.
Cancellation of Continuum Season 4 would massively disappoint the regular viewers, but it could be done based on low ratings. There has been a huge fall in viewership rating from Continuum season two to season three with Syfy registering a 30% drop in views.
Syfy doesn’t have the financial base to push the series on its own. If Showcase doesn’t support Continuum Season 4, it will not be heading off the table. Syfy Studio executive Ted A’Zary said that they could only acquire the viewing rights for the US while someone goes ahead and creates the show.
When Netflix is teaming up with Rogers Media to support a new Canadian series called ‘Between,’ fans of Continuum are hoping and praying that some media leader backs Continuum Season 4 and gets the ball rolling for them.

Watched all the way through this and found it to be a great series with lots of twists in the plot.
I can sort of understand why viewers dropped off around season 3, the storyline becomes a bit complex for anyone except for intellectuals who can unravel what is going on.
I reqlly hope we see a season 4 or at least a wrap up movie.
sadly in the uk we have only had season 1 and 2 so give season three soon syfy!!! and make season 4, just love the programme

Fabulous programme! Can’t wait for season 3 – coming to UK soon, I hope. I’m very sad to hear that it could end with season 3 as I think the story has potential to carry on for some time. We grew up in Vancouver and love that the show has allowed Vancouver to be Vancouver. Nice to see our former home on the telie here. Please pick up Continuum for at least a 4th season!

I like to think I’m a TV snob since I watch shows from around the world. I have to say Continuum is a great show. Great plot with a truly strong female lead. However I can’t imagine the show going on for 7+ years. I don’t like when storylines get drawn out and go nowhere. If you’re looking for a show to fill the void check out the Swedish series Real Humans.
I can’t understand why viewers were down in S3. Numbers can be misleading and maybe time slots or lack of promotion let the show down. It is well crafted with a brilliant cast and strong action packed episodes, that make it ground breaking TV. This show demands renewing, and strong promotional backing. It will become a success story where everyone wins if the good foundation that has been created is handled correctly and allowed to reach it’s full potential.
I completely agree that theres no reason why the viewers would go lose interest in season 3 I don’t think the story line has lost momentum yet. I think this whole situation about Season 4 is absolutely ridiculous especially after all the awards and stuff. They are talking about not having the money or whatever but I bet they will start some new lame ass show that will not last a full season…never-mind get a second one. So instead of taking money for some new show they need to invest in what us viewers are invested. None of this makes any sense and they need to get it together already and RENEW CONTINUUM FOR SEASON 4!!!!

I live in vancouver & love the show, for berry saying 7 -10 seasons could have put a delay on re-newing. Hope that it does get re-newd. Its not on netflix canada. fingers crossed.
Also i pvr everything i watch 2 pass commercials, im sure lots of ppl do, does that get counted for viewing?

Wow this show is awesome. To say that I am defestated is an understatement. Season 3 with Kellogg stealing piron from Alec and the future sucking bad. All of it major. This future with RFID chips and surveillance is happening now. Amazed that someone gets it.
Right! It’s such a great show, but the TRUTH in it was a big surprise! I consider it a very important show!
Can’t believe this is not renewed yet. It is *the* most intelligent SF show around, with a subject matter that we can relate to. What, are they being pressured by the industry to drop criticism of Monsanto? Or can’t the American Public deal with a show that goes against the grain and shows ‘the other side of what is first portrayed as ‘terrorism’? For all I care – make season 4 a bit more black and white. The season 3 finale makes that possible. Make the fight of the resistance have a ‘Rebel Alliance’ feel to it – it worked for Star Wars, didn’t it? There is room for a season that is a bit more violent, maybe even set in the future again, with more tech and warfare, if that helps get some viewers back.
And yes – if Netflix decides to pay for this, I will subscribe until the series end, no matter how long that takes.

I’m addicted to this. I loved it even when I missed a lot of things. But then I watched all 3 seasons again on Netflix with the SUBTITLES and being able to start it and stop it and play parts over, and I was awed at all the detail! The more I discover about it, the better it is! LOVE the characters, love time travel stories, love the drama and all the amazing twists, and I LOVE the importance of the MESSAGE! This is a really important show that I hoped many more people would see! The idea that we would never see what happened beyond that last episode is excruciating! And the plot possibilities seem endless, which is so intriguing!
Really hoping for season 4, love this show…if I could afford to fund it myself I would. Would also love to see it stay in Canada Vancouver.

I’m watching the season finale of season 3 right now and I really hope there will be a 4th season. I love this show! The time travel twist with the brainiac kid and cops catching terrorists?!?!? Nothing ever gets boring. Please don’t cancel!!!!
